Continue ReadingThis year marked the 20th Tri-County All-Star played at Elden Rettew Stadium in Manheim. This year was a different format because the Berks merger with Lancaster-Lebanon League split the teams into two squads. The two squads are Lancaster on one side and Berks/Lebanon on the other team. Below are some of the players who stood out in the game. The game was canceled after halftime because of a medical incident with a fan who was sitting in the stands.
Giovanni Cavanna Giovanni Cavanna ATH Muhlenberg | 2023 State PA Muhlenberg. Cavanna was the starting running back for the Berks/Lebanon team and he ran the ball very well. He also showed good hands out of the backfield by catching the ball and then getting upfield. He flashed good skills early in the game, but then got hurt and never returned. He hits the hole well and runs very hard. Cavanna looks like he has no offers at this time, but he could play College Football with the skills he showed in the game.
Grant Hoover Grant Hoover 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Hempfield | 2023 State PA Hempfield. Hoover was the starting running back for the Lancaster team. He flashed good skills by running the ball when there wasn’t much running room most of the day, but Hoover ran for what he could get and ran for some hard yards. He also caught the ball well out of the backfield. Hoover is going to West Chester, they are getting a good prospect.
Jaevon Parker
Jaevon Parker
Jaevon Parker Lancaster Catholic. Parker started at wide receiver for the Lancaster team tonight. He played really well and caught a touchdown on a 30-yard pass. He ran a beautiful double move. It was a slant-and-go. He sold the slant and then went down the seam. He was in the end zone when the pass was thrown and Parker went up and high-pointed the ball. He is currently not committed anywhere, but he should have an opportunity to play College Football. I heard that Millersville might be interested in him still.
Jaevon Parker after the game. In the Tri-County All-Star Game, he caught a touchdown.
Tyler Hurst Tyler Hurst ATH Garden Spot | 2023 State PA Garden Spot. Hurst played defensive line for the Lancaster team and he was a dominant force the entire game. He was constantly in the backfield the entire game for the Lancaster team. He pressured the quarterbacks from Berks/Lebanon the entire game. He was also good at stopping the run as well. Hurst looks like he is not playing College Football, but he definitely could if he liked to.
Cole Groff Cole Groff 5'11" | 260 lbs | OL Manheim Central | 2023 State PA Manheim Central. Groff played left guard for the Lancaster squad and he really played well protecting the quarterbacks and run blocking. He is a big physical blocker who did a nice job all day blocking. He is very strong and moves well for someone as big as him.
Kellan Murphy
Kellan Murphy
Kellan Murphy Lancaster Catholic. Murphy played defensive line for the Lancaster team and didn’t disappoint. He was another dominant lineman for the Lancaster side. He almost had several sacks during the game. Murphy has great size and displayed good athleticism and strength for the position. Murphy will be attending St. Lawrence University in the fall. They are getting a good player.
Jack Reed Jack Reed 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Warwick | 2023 State PA Warwick. Reed was a prospect I saw play the last 3 years at quarterback for Warwick. He had an outstanding career for Warwick. He started at quarterback for the Lancaster team and played really well. He threw the one touchdown to Parker and connected on several nice passes as well. He also scrambled several times for big plays. Reed is attending Shippensburg College. Well deserved for him.
