This state has produced some of the best talent at the college and professional levels for years. For a majority to the premier athletes who have come out of Texas and into the next level, their journey to the top started at the middle school level. Having said that, here are some of the Lone Star State’s top athletes who are about to become some of the biggest names in high school football at both a state and national level.
Trey Harlason Trey Harlason 6’0″ | 170 lbs | ATH TX is a wideout who has proven to be a force on the football field, even when he is playing up in age. Trey is a straight-up competitor and thrives on the football field, basketball court, and the track. With his shifty speed, Trey is a natural at wideout and runs smooth and effortless routes. Trey also has the ball skills to fight contested balls and has no problem hauling the ball in, even after fighting through contact. The most impressive thing about Trey is his hands. Trey has shown to go up and pick the ball out of the air with just one hand like it is no big deal. Overall, Trey is a very scary athlete who is going to do some damage at the high school level. Get ready to hear his name begin to pop up in the recruiting world very soon.
Bryson Thompson Bryson Thompson 5’9″ | 155 lbs | ATH TX is another athlet who is absolutely tearing through the Texas Hill Country. With very strong straight-line speed, Bryson can pick apart defenses with his ability to separate from coverage and with the ball in his hands. Thompson also has phenomenal ball skills that make him a garunteed completition when he is targeted on the football field. Overall, Bryson is one of the more complete athletes in the class of 2027. With him already recieving an offer from UTSA, it only confirms what this kid is capable of doing on the football field. Get ready to hear about Bryson on a national level very soon.
Highlights
Axel Weloli
Axel Weloli
Axel Weloli is an offensive lineman with incredible upside to keep an eye on he rolls into his high school career. The Denton Area trench warrior sizes up to be around 6’1 and has the tremendous size to go along with it. Trending towards more of the interior offensive linemen type, Axel has shown to dominate opposing defensive linemen with strong footwork and strength. To give you a picture of just how explosive he is, Axel has a clip with he seemingly throws a defensive lineman just by shooting his hands onto him. Overall, there is a lot to like about Axel. If he continues to work the way that he has been, Denton is going to have a premier offensive lineman on their hands. I am very excited to watch him grow and develop down the road.
Justus Wright Justus Wright OL TX is another lineman that has peaked my interest as of late. Justus currently splits time between offensive and defensive line, but has shown much more potential at offensive linemen. For being a pretty big dude (5-foot-10, 270 pounds), Justus moves reall well for his size and has a nice mix of athleticism on the offensive side of the ball. In the run game, Justus moves people with the pure strength and explosion that he plays with. In pass protection, Just moves with active hands and feet and does a good job of staying in front of who he is working with. Justus is also very good at redirecting a pass rushers momentum with his strength. Overall, Justus is trending towards being an elite offesnive linemen at whatever level he gets to. If he keeps this up, he is going to end up being one of the bigger names in the national recruiting search for a lot of top tier programs.
