The Rivals camp circuit is always an excellent preview of what prospects can do in the upcoming season. We are going to highlight several prospects that performed well at the Rivals camp over the weekend.
Michael Hawkins Michael Hawkins 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Frisco Emerson | 2024 State TX -Quarterback-Frisco Emerson-6’2” 190-Pounds-2024
The Emerson signal caller is continuing to have a strong offseason as he prepares for the 2023 football season. Hawkins put on display a strong arm that can hit wide receivers in stride. He is a quarterback that looks comfortable in the pocket, and he does a great job of escaping the pocket and using legs to pick up yards on the ground. Hawkins earned MVP honors at the Dallas camp over the weekend at the quarterback position. He is a prospect to watch out for this upcoming season.
Coen Echols Coen Echols 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Katy | 2024 State TX -Offensive Line-Katy-6’3” 290-Pounds-2024
Coen Echols Coen Echols 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Katy | 2024 State TX is an offensive lineman out of Katy that continues to open plenty of eyes this offseason. The versatile offensive line prospect put in plenty of work at the center during the camp. He has the quick feet and the power mix that makes him an offensive lineman that college scouts are looking for. Echols opened plenty of eyes this past weekend and I expect a big season from the talented offensive lineman.
Kiandrea Barker-Running Back-The Woodlands-5’11” 183-Pounds-2025
The Penn State commit put his explosive speed on display in Dallas over the weekend. In drills over the weekend, Barker flashed the speed that has made him the priority of numerous colleges across the United States. Over the weekend, Barker continued to add to his trophy case with MVP honors at the running back position. Fans and scouts can expect Barker to have a big 2023 season for the The Woodlands.
Davis Williams-Offensive Lineman-Cedar Park-6’5” 300-Pounds-2024
The offensive line position grouping was well represented in Dallas over the weekend. Williams has the size and frame to hold down one of the tackle positions at the next level. He was impressive in one-on-one competitions against opposing defensive linemen. Williams uses his mix of speed and power well to keep the edge rushers off balance. He has the potential to do some big things this season. I expect him to see action on Saturdays in the future.
Kaliq Lockett Kaliq Lockett 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Sachse | 2025 State TX -Wide Receiver-Sachse-6’2” 180-Pounds-2025
Kaliq Lockett Kaliq Lockett 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Sachse | 2025 State TX is one of those wide receivers that makes everything he does on the field look easy. He does a great job of getting into his routes and creating separation from opposing defensive backs. Lockett was impressive in one-on-one competition against opposing defensive backs. The Sachse wide receiver is setting the stage for a strong 2023 season after opening plenty of eyes this past weekend in Dallas.
Tristan Escobar-Defensive Back-Brennan-6’0” 190-Pounds-2025
Tristan Escobar is a prospect that can play the safety or cornerback positions with ease. He flashes impressive speed and can make plays in the secondary. Escobar does a great job of making a play on the ball while it is in the air. Over the weekend, Escobar showcased good speed and impressive coverage ability at the Dallas Rivals camp. He is going to be a defensive back to watch out for over the next few seasons.
