Deatherage had a really good season for Kuna in the Tight End position where he showed off his unique abilities. Deatherage has the ability to be dominant both phases of the game where he is able to put his hand in the ground and flex out on the edge. Deatherage has good footwork while running blocking and maintain his base throughout contact. He has a strong punch at the point of contact that consistently gets knock back and then is able to finish at the end of his block. He really maintains his balance and never seems to get shed by defensive lineman. Where he really shines is out on the edge where he is an advanced route runner that allows him to separate from safeties and linebackers. His a natural pass catcher that has strong hands and doesnt let the ball get into his chest. He understands zone coverages and spaces in the defense where he sits down to collect footballs. Right now hes a real underneath weapon but as he progresses he is going to be come a legitimate vertical threat down the field where he is going to shine.

Cass Nelson
Cass Nelson
Nelson is the next player in a long line of talented Tight Ends that have come from the Mountain View program. He is different than many of the players they have had before as he is not their usual 220lbs plus tight end. Nelson is one of those players that is a nightmare for opposing defenses with his ability to catch the football and run routes. His ability to really separate from linebackers and safeties while sometimes matching up against corners is what really sets him apart from his peers. Hes a natural pass catcher that has soft hands and elite tracking ability when the ball is in the air. Where he needs to improve in his game is in his inline blocking where he is not the best yet but has the ability to be a proficient blocker. He will become more well rounded during the season as he is recovering from a dislocated elbow from last year. He is going to be one to watch for sure next season and could end up being the leading tight end receiver in the 5A SIC ranks.
Fish is a really put together athlete with a strong lower half that he consistently uses while he run blocks. He has a strong punch and a solid base that allows him to play with good leverage against bigger defenders. He has a strong first step that allows him to get good angles and absolutely crush defenders on down blocks. He has good enough quickness to seal the edge and dominate smaller defenders. Right now his is one of the best blocking tight ends in the conference and where he will improve over the next year is in his route running ability. He shows the ability to catch the football smoothly but did not get a ton of opportunities during the season as Capital was more run heavy. He will be able to show off his route running and catching ability as he has more trust after such a productive year in the trenches last season for the Eagles. He is going to be one of the dark horses of the year next season as he continues to progress.
