The Eagles missed the postseason for the first time since 2018. They also compete in Region 4-5A with defending Class 5A champion Dutch Fork and three other teams in White Knoll, River Bluff and Lexington who were ranked during the 2022 campaign.
Nevertheless, head coach Justin Gentry believes his team is ready to rebound. As the Eagles complete spring practice, he sees a roster with a mix of seniors and young players who also obtained a healthy amount of experience last season.
“This time last year, we were a bunch of green players,” Gentry said. “We’ve got a lot of guys coming back that have played a lot of football. They’re just still going to be young this year.”
Rising junior quarterback Brady Albro Brady Albro 5'10" | 190 lbs | QB Chapin | 2025 State SC is one of those young but experienced players. He threw for 1,597 yards and 13 touchdowns last season and continues to earn praise from Gentry for his intelligent play on the field.
The offensive line protecting Albro is also young, led by rising sophomore Caleb Muskus who broke into the starting lineup mid-season. He’s expected to develop into the next top offensive line prospect from the Eagles and will be paired on the line with another rising sophomore in Mason Hetlinger.
Chapin is expected to have more speed on both sides of the football. Wide receiver Isaiah Green has impressed Gentry with his leadership and Jacob Nerone has returned from injury.
