The Topeka Area Football Coaches Association in correlation with Rebound Sports Performance sponsored a Junior Day Combine at Shawnee Height High School on May 1.
More than 60 athletes showed off their skills in front of 20-plus college coaches and scouts including this Prep Redzone scout.
Players were measured and timed in the 40-yard dash, “L” drill, Pro Agility drill, broad jump, vertical jump, and number of bench press reps at 185 lbs.
Here is a scouting report on multiple threats on the offensive side and linebackers on the defensive side who can run and leap in the class of 2024. These were some of the “Top Dogs” at the combine. Some might be labs, others pit-mixes, but you can bet their skills will play on the gridiron.
This is the second of multiple reports that will be posted on this combine.
Please feel free to reach out via email deckscoutks@gmail.com or on Twitter @KSScoutDeck if you would like me or another Prep Redzone scout to know about an upcoming camp or combine.
Abbott Hundley Abbott Hundley 6'1" | 220 lbs | RB Holton | 2024 State KS , RB, 6’1”, 220, Holton
Hundley ran the quickest “L Drill” of any athlete at the combine with a 6.94 mark. He also had an impressive time in the forty at 4.74 seconds. The Holton prospect also did 16 reps at 185 lbs on the bench press. Holton is a program that consistently produces running backs and linebackers who go on to college and Hundley certainly placed himself in the mix to play college ball.
Titan Osburn Titan Osburn 6'3" | 175 lbs | WR Benedictine College | 2024 State KS , WR, 6’3”, 175, Washburn Rural
Osburn had the best vertical recorded at the event at 38.7. He also ran a 4.52 forty. Osburn is strong for his size as he benched 185 lbs six times, a number that is 10 lbs heavier than his own weight. Osburn caught 32 balls for 668 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022. His size makes him an obvious red zone target and creates match-ups problems for smaller defensive backs.
Isiah Kincade, ATH, 6’1”, 190, Topeka High
Kinkade can jump. His 37.7 vertical was the second-best at the combine. The Topeka High wide receiver also ran a fast Pro Agility Drill in 4.25 seconds. Much like Lee, Kincade could play just about any skill position on the field based on a program’s needs. He accumulated 254 receiving yards and 141 rushing yards as a junior.
Callen Barta Callen Barta 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2024 State KS , WR, 6’2”, 180, Seaman
Barta had the fastest time at the combine in the Pro Agility Drill. His sub-4 second time of 3.88 was impressive. The Seaman prospect also posted a time of 4.57 in the forty. Barta is a solid route runner and can play free safety on the defensive side. The Viking prospect caught 41 balls for 406 yards and three touchdowns during his junior campaign.
Travion Gardenhire, LB, 6’0”, 209, Topeka High
Gardenhire was one of the strongest skill players benching 185 lbs 14 times. He also ran a sub-5 forty and Pro Agility Drill. He played mostly on defense during his junior season, but I would not hesitate to test his skills on offense.
Jakie Lee, ATH, 5’10”, 213, Shawnee Heights
Lee posted solid numbers across the board. He had an 8-foot-five broad jump and ran a 5.33 forty. Lee played primarily on the defensive side of the ball for the Thunderbirds in 2022, but oh my I would love to line him up at fullback and just let him hunt. Lee is an athlete that should be on every in-state coach’s radar.
J.C. Heim, LB, 6’3”, 220, Washburn Rural
Heim had one of the fastest Pro Agility times at 4.26 seconds and ran a 4.52 forty. Heim projects better as a linebacker at the next level. He can cover. He can blitz. He can tackle. The Junior Blue prospect is a gifted athlete who loves playing the game of football.
