Kids are always in positions to succeed, no matter their size or speed they make plays where they are at. What makes the Cubs an ‘In the Hunt’ team is the quality of the quantity of talent they will return in 2023. Having a good mix of experienced players as well as the fresh incoming talent underneath them. Take a look at the 2023 Alcester- Hudson Cubs below!
2024:
Dominic Van Egdom (TE/DL), Highlights
Van Egdom really exploded onto the scene in his Junior Season. Really showing that he is a very reliable target in the passing game as well as a big play threat. A very quick release off the snap out of the three-point stance and he is open almost immediately. Good route running from the TE position and his large frame makes him a very tough cover for opposing defenses. Lastly, he has incredible concentration when the ball is in the air, as well as making good adjustments to the pass.
William Hallaway (WR/DB), Highlights
Hallaway’s tape was a lot of fun to watch for me. Playing the free safety position, he plays each play fundamentally sound and does his job. He lives up to the definition of last line of defense, and plays it perfectly. Flying around the deep part of the field and helping on run support. Filling the alley and making a textbook tackle on each play. Speed really shows on pass coverage and on special teams. Running step-for-step with receivers, and dusting defenders on kick returns to really showcase the speed.
Mateo Kleinhans (QB/DB), Highlights
Kleinhans is a very athletic QB with a high ceiling for his future. His footwork is near perfect in terms of fundamentals. Arm strength and accuracy play very well together for him. With a baseball type release, he leads the receivers really well and throws them open for the big plays. While he has lots of arm talent throwing the ball, he also displays a great deal of speed when scrambling or taking off on a QB run.
Aidan Cole (OL/DL), Highlights
Cole may be poised to break out as a Senior, especially on the defensive side. Quickly releasing off the snap, blitzing off the edge makes him a nightmare for the opposing QB. His angles off the edge help him keep his contain, but also keep position to make the tackle for loss. Physicality on both sides of the ball make him fun to watch on tape. Taking on blocks or making blocks, he is going to attack the opponent. Lastly, he attacks the football when he makes a QB sack and forces fumbles.
2025:
Evan Brown Evan Brown 5'9" | 160 lbs | RB Alcester-Hudson | 2025 State SD (RB/LB), Highlights
Brown is going to have a breakout Junior Season. The kid has a lot of tools that he brings to the table, especially carrying the football. Possessing a lot of speed once he has the ball gets him into the open field in a hurry. Add his physicality and motor, and this kid makes a big play. The big thing on tape is him following blocks and knowing when to accelerate, make a move or run through a defender. Lastly, I like his vision and his ability to help his teammates get into position to block for him on long runs.
Jose Topete-Lopez (FB/DL), Highlights
Topete-Lopez could be a vital piece for the Cub offense in 2023. Having a big frame, mixed with some speed and muscle and he is a good lead blocker for the offense. Adding a second dangerous rushing threat out of the backfield when he carries the ball. Having the speed and vision to really extend plays once the ball is in his hands.
