Omaree Morris
Omaree Morris
One of the top safeties in the state returns for the Indians 2023 campaign, Morris is as good as it gets at his position. A blend of an old school Ronnie Lott heat seeking missile and new school Troy Polamalu esque is the best way to describe this young man’s game. Corralling 4 interceptions in 8 games last season, the kid can cover a lot of ground, with excellent footwork and solid speed. A full season and healthy should only provide more opportunities for Morris as he is more than capable of playing FCS football or higher.

Morris is a 6’2 stout outside linebacker for the Indians, also playing tight end on the offensive side. He has good size and speed and really came into his own at outside linebacker last season. Notching 3 sacks last year, he has an opportunity to be among the league leaders for 2024 in that category. With his long arms and good strength, it is only a matter of time before division 2 coaches come calling his way.

Just the number 1 ranked defensive lineman in the state and 6th overall, the all state defensive end returns to Manchester for 2023. Doesn’t take you long to realize why Byerson has FBS and FCS offers from across the country when you watch him play. Last season he was virtually unblockable as a junior, imagine what he is going to do this year? The young man is one of the strongest lineman in the Virginia and is also light on his feet and moves very well. Another two sport athlete for the Lancers, Byerson will be leading the charge as they hope to get back to the state title game for 2023.

Jaden Plantin
Jaden Plantin
A quick scat back type for the Lancers on offense, Plantin makes plays at his safety position as well. The All-Metro first teamer also is back for Manchester, he is very good at making people miss in the open field. Plantin knows how to hit the whole at adjust his running path with his great footwork and vision. While he was first team all-metro, Plantin also was honorable mention all state and has offers from a few FCS schools. Another year of progression and I see no reason why many more FCS and FBS schools will come knocking his way .

Kyree Richardson
Kyree Richardson
If you are not buying stock on Manchester’s state title chances this year you are missing out and Richardson is another reason why. This young man can play both receiver or defensive back at the next level, if you do not believe me check the tape below. Picking off 4 passes last year and accumulating over 700 yards offensively, Richardson will get more FBS offers as we progress into summer. Army, North Carolina A&T and UNC Pembroke have already offered, I would be expecting this list to triple before he kicks off next fall.
