This isn’t my first time writing about Basil Walter Basil Walter 6’3″ | 235 lbs | DL Abington | 2024 State PA , yet I feel as though I should shine light on this young man a bit more often. Camping, working in the weight room, Walter is a current junior that should have the spotlight this coming Fall. Gauging college coaches, however, it seems that many are still in the dark about many Abington prospects, Walter included. Can align anywhere between the c-gaps. Good second-phase winner, needs to work on his repertoire off the snap. Has the raw strength and power to shed after initial engagement. If he can work on his initial hand placement and closing speed, you can bet I’d rank him inside the top 300. He’s close. Big fan of his potential.
Korey Wyatt Korey Wyatt 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Cheltenham | 2024 State PA not being on the rankings is an oversight, as we got him mixed up with another Wyatt that recently graduated from Cheltenham HS. Korey’s going to be back in the mix, and high at that. The year has seen Wyatt pick up two offers from LIU and Temple, while the young man has taken UOVs to Penn State and UConn to name a few. I intended to catch Wyatt and the rest of his Cheltenham teammates late Wednesday night, couldn’t get to it. Yet the DB/ATH sets the tone from his position in the secondary. Highly competitive, can align at multiple safety spots, in multiple defensive sets, and can even cover the slot if need be. This young man isn’t going to shy away from contact, watch him fill the alley while coming downhill. Expect him to help out on offense this Fall as well.
We liked Sharlandiin Strange for some time now. Ranked as a top 20 player in Pennsylvania, we might still be too low on the young man. A thoroughbred EDGE rusher that has accumulated Power Five offers out of the SEC, BIG10, and ACC conferences. Strange has racked up offers out of Toledo, Pitt, USC, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Colorado, Virginia Tech, Illinois, South Carolina, and Cincinnati since the month of April. Multiple colleges had the opportunity to see him up close last night, we expect more offers to come soon.
Unreal closing speed to the BC or the QB after shedding. Continuous work on his body has him boasting the ideal pass-rushing frame. Bend and flexibility off the edge have his upside through the roof. Tape shows Strange forcing tackles deep into the pocket just to get a hand on him. Love the length the young man displays. One of these Power Five schools will get him to fully unlock his potential, helping him how to better utilize angles and leverage. He’ll be a name to watch quickly into his collegiate career.
Another Cheltenham prospect who needs to get back into the Top 150 after initially ranking as a Top 100 player earlier in his career. He’ll get back. Kent State and LIU offered Zaire Williams Zaire Williams 5’9″ | 170 lbs | ATH Cheltenham | 2024 State PA back in January. Interested in seeing if any FCS schools pull the trigger on this special slot playmaker. Consistent off-season worker who has been working the 7v7 circuit hard, while also visiting and keeping in touch with those interested in him. We may have overreacted to Zaire’s limited junior tape, even though he was electric in those short moments. I’m excited to see the kid blaze through defenses this coming Fall.
Very happy to see this phenomenal athlete get his first offer out of Cornell Univeristy just this week. I ask around if coaches know about Mekhai Smith Mekhai Smith 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Lower Merion | 2024 State PA , I usually get no’s for answers. The Lower Merion QB/ATH is a name to know if you’re recruiting Montgomery County. 6’2, 195, great frame. Three-sport athlete, dabbling in Baseball and Basketball, Smith’s QB reps will draw you in, his reps at DB/ATH will keep you intrigued. Reminds me a ton of Episcopal Academy’s Na’Rome Rayborn Na’Rome Rayborn 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA . Moldable, coachable, 3.7 GPA. He’s a name I’ll be sharing moving forward.
Low-ranked athlete that has every opportunity to elevate his rank this coming Fall. Quiet on socials since April, yet Abington’s Christian Broome Christian Broome 5’10” | 155 lbs | ATH Abington Highschool | 2024 State PA might impress those programs that recently invited him to Junior Day Visits. Those programs being Bluffton, Alderson Broaddus, and Ferum College. Low interest can blossom into high interest with spectacular tape. We’ll see what Broome is capable of. I’ll be at some Abington games this Fall, I hope he stands out.
