Continue ReadingEach season there are players who catch your eye that are on the cusp of having that breakout year. As we head into the eve of the 2023 season, some players have been on the rise by raising their profiles through 7v7 and spring ball or they turned heads in the previous season and it’s their time to shine. We spotlight a group of ballers who are trending upward.
Timms had put in work this offseason to raise his profile on the recruiting trail. Tyson is a big body wideout, who the versatility to line up in line at tight end, he can be effective in the slot and his ability to split out wide, shows his value in the Aledo offense. Timms runs sharp routes, he has the short area quickness to get separation in tight coverage and he works the middle of the field to exploit holes in defenses to get open. Tyson has an extended catch radius, his large mitts engulf the football and he attacks the football with a purpose. Timms excels at catches in heavy traffic, he has the frame to makes grabs and absorb contact and he has the bunnies to rise, use his large catch radius to win in the red zone on the 50/50 balls. Timms has a winning pedigree earning two state titles with the Bearcats and college programs are seeing the traits that make Timms an attractive prospect. Valparaiso, Stetson and UT-Permian Basin have offered most recently, look for that trend to continue heading into the summer.

Hardeman Jr. has a stout, compact build, he has a powerful lower half and he runs with excellent pad level that makes him a force between the tackles. D’Andre shows great patience and superb vision when he presses the hole, he sets up his blocks well and his explosive burst when he sees daylight enables him to from 0-100 real quick. Hardeman Jr. is phonebooth quick, his swift change of direction makes him a handful to deal with in the open field and he has the lighting in a bottle type speed to turn a short gain into a quick six. D’Andre was apart of a potent 1-2 punch in the backfield for North Shore, as the Mustangs made a run to another state title in 2022, but came up short in a close loss to Duncanville, In 2022 Hardeman Jr. rushed for 952 yards, while averaging 7.2 yards a carry and scoring 13 touchdowns. He is ready to tote the load for the Mustangs in 2023 and college programs have taken notice. Texas A&M Commerce, UIW and UTSA have offered. Expect that number to inflate as we head into the season.

Highlights
Plake has the arm strength to push the ball deep down field, he threads the needle up the seams with pinpoint accuracy and he has excellent touch on his fade ball and can drop it in the bucket consistently. Dylan has great pocket awareness, he navigates the muddy traffic with clean footwork with his eyes scanning the field and he drops dimes from multiple arm angles at a high completion rate. He has the clock in his head sped up frequently, he throws his receivers open and his ability to fit the football into small windows are traits that stick out in his game. Plake has the athleticism to make plays outside of the pocket when the protection breaks down and his ability to improvise on the run are key components in his toolbox. Dylan has lead Harker Heights to playoff berths two years in a row and he returns as one of the top passers in Central Texas. East Central University and a recent offer from UTPB after a great camp are on the table for Plake but expect his mailbox to have more on the way.
