I saw a lot of great competition this weekend as the Nebraska Red Wolves hosted the inaugural Mother’s Day Showdown at the Capitol. Several teams from 4 different states traveled to Lincoln to battle for the bragging rights of winning the first tournament of its kind.
Next team up in our coverage of the tournament is the Soldier 402Boyz. The Soldier 402Boyz featured some elite talent in the 2026 class and some of the top prospects in the Millard area.
Here are my notes on five players from the Soldier 402Boyz that lit it up at the Mother’s Day Showdown.
Jett Thomalla Jett Thomalla 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Millard South | 2026 State NE | 2026 | QB | Millard South | 6’4″ 180 lbs
Hudl | Twitter
– Jett’s poise and control of the offense are the first things that stand out.
– Great arm talent that can deliver that ball to all levels of the field. Jett had some nice passes where he was able to throw his receivers open and showed great anticipation.
– Nice placement and timing on deep balls.
– Thomalla does a great job progressing through his targets and can make smart, snap decisions.
Gabe Prucha Gabe Prucha 5'10" | 210 lbs | RB Millard South | 2026 State NE | 2026 | RB/ATH | Millard South | 5’10” 210 lbs
– Prucha might’ve been one of my biggest standouts of the entire tournament. He was doing it all for the 402 Boyz.
– He was a constant terror on underneath routes, especially in the redzone, where he got open for several touchdowns at the goal line.
– Gabe is surprisingly shifty, as he was able to shake off defenders after the catch. Using quick cuts and shifty footwork to create space for himself.
– Great receiving back! He will be a great all-purpose target out of the backfield for Millard South.
Amarion Jackson Amarion Jackson 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Millard South | 2026 State NE | 2026 | WR | Millard South | 6’1″ 175 lbs
– Silky smooth receiver that runs routes extremely well.
– He can eat up man coverage and possesses the awareness to find the soft zones in coverage.
– Strong through contact. Amarion made some great catches in the redzone, where he held on to the ball while battling with defenders.
– Overlooked game speed. He can challenge defenses vertically or take quick passes for long gains when he turns upfield.
– Amarion’s connection with QB Jett Thomalla Jett Thomalla 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Millard South | 2026 State NE is going to be a special one for the Patriots.
Kaleb Panowicz Kaleb Panowicz 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Millard South | 2024 State NE | 2024 | S/ATH | Millard South | 6’1″ 215 lbs
– Kaleb was a defensive standout, showing off his play recognition and range from the safety position.
– Panowicz is quick to break on the ball and has solid speed to cover a good chunk of the field.
– We didn’t get to see the full scope of Kaleb’s physicality this weekend, but he definitely displayed it when he could. Using his big frame to break up passes, keeps his hands active, and can challenge press defenders when he lines up on offense.
– Very good athlete with a ton of upside!
Toris Rudd Jr Toris Rudd Jr 5'8" | 140 lbs | DB Millard South | 2026 NE | 2026 | DB/WR | Millard South
– Toris caught our attention at last month’s Prospect Tour showcase with a great combine performance and lockdown reps in 1v1s. He continued to impress this weekend.
– He has great CB fundamentals with quick footwork, speed, and very reactive.
– Rudd plays aggressively when the ball is up for grabs. Either batting it away for making a play on it himself.
– Loose through the hips and can change directions very quickly. Can keep up with receivers step-for-step.
