We’ll unveil our next set of rankings and tell you the newest faces you better know. Only, we’re not waiting around for the next season to start. We want you to see behind the curtain as we go.
Below, you’re going find out about six 2024s from across the Palmetto State we believe have everything they need to move into our statewide rankings.
Jaiden Kimble Jaiden Kimble 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB White Knoll | 2024 State SC LB, White Knoll – On March 28, we told you what we thought Kimble was capable of, despite a relatively late switch to defense. A few days later, the linebacker set the Palmetto Combine Series North fastest time in the 40, running an eye-popping 22.93 miles per hour in the process. This summer, he’s going to be all over the camp circuit, and his interest and offer sheet is only going to continue to fill up before we even get to our next rankings update.
Dom Camacho Dom Camacho 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Beaufort | 2024 State SC DB, Beaufort – Camacho (pictured) has great lateral movement, something he’s clearly worked on this offseason. It’s an added bonus for a defensive back who was able to do a little bit of everything for Bryce Lybrand’s state-championship defensive unit last fall. Camacho is lanky and could probably stand to put on a few pounds, but that’s what the offseason is for. Either way, he’s going to do his thing again in 2023.
Keith Chisholm Keith Chisholm 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Whale Branch | 2024 State SC ATH, Whale Branch – OK, look, we might have just missed the darn boat with the Whale Branch star. Take a look at what he did during his junior season: 46 rushes, 293 yards, seven touchdowns; 19 receptions, 373 yards, four touchdowns; 14 kickoff returns for 347 yards; seven punt returns for 64 yards; 19.5 total tackles and four picks on defense. We’re sorry, Mr. Chisholm. But we’ll make up for it soon enough.
Maurice Brown Maurice Brown 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Ridgeland | 2024 State SC QB, Ridgeland – Brown was a broken tackle or two from rushing for 1,000 yards last year. Cool right? Oh, yeah. He also threw for 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns and is a touchdown-maker in the making. Few teams in the Lowcountry – especially during the non-region slate when everyone is putting their Tetris puzzled together – will be able find a way to slow down Brown and his dual-threat abilities.
Dirrick Goodman Dirrick Goodman 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB South Florence | 2024 State SC LB, South Florence – Goodman isn’t just a solid defensive back getting ready to move up into the middle of the defense. He’s a hybrid who will put up big impact numbers for a South Florence defense that was overshadowed by such a dynamic offense during last fall’s state championship run. Goodman will pick off passes, force fumbles and make a bunch of tackles for the Bruins.
Myron Hunt ATH, North Augusta – Every conversation, every report, every clip we see of the kid people calls “Beans” tells us that Hunt is ready to blow up on the statewide scale. We didn’t rank him in May because, well, we haven’t seen him play ball in our state – or even on this level – quite yet. But his slew of impact plays on film from Georgia and what we’re hearing about his spring practices at North Augusta tell us the CSRA has a new player ready to be noticed by everyone.
