Those rising juniors paired with a core of key seniors and a few already-intriguing underclassmen give the Bulldogs plenty of reason to consider themselves among the top handful of so of teams to watch in arguably Louisiana’s most open postseason bracket: Division II Non-Select.
Cecilia garnered an early stop on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s spring practice tours and a series of “Spring 3-2-1” spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.
3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS
Diesel Solari Diesel Solari 5'7" | 175 lbs | ATH Cecilia | 2025 State LA — 5-6, 160 ATH — Cecilia (2025)
Solari was one of the first ranked members of the class by Prep Redzone Louisiana as a twitchy, explosive athlete with the versatility to excel at defensive back, running back, slot receiver, quarterback and return man to make impacts all over the field as a freshman. His sophomore season ended early with a knee injury, but he has continued to develop into a major leader for the program and said he expects to be better than ever when he officially returns this fall.
Isaiah Champagne Isaiah Champagne 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Pieper | 2025 TX — 5-11, 160 WR/DB — Cecilia (2025)
and Brent Gordon Jr. Brent Gordon Jr. 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Cecilia | 2025 State LA — 5-11, 175 DB/WR — Cecilia (2025)
Another pair of talented and versatile 2025 athletes, Champagne and Gordon both joined Solari in the starting lineup this fall — the former as one of the team’s top receiving threats and cornerbacks, and the latter primarily as a safety. Both are expected to play big roles on both sides of the ball this fall, and both play bigger than their size with their overall toughness and leaping and timing to make plays in the air.
Jonathan Boudreaux — 6-0, 190 TE — Cecilia
One of the Bulldogs’ rising senior leaders, “Bubba” is a returning starter and a target with a bit more size than most of their other skill weapons. He plays both aspects of his role reliably as both a willing blocker and a pass-catcher capable of making sure-handed plays in tight coverage.
2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Demarco Roberts — 6-3, 210 DL/OL — Cecilia (2024)
The defensive end, also listed as a tackle on the other side of the ball, is both a rising senior leader and a breakout candidate to watch in the trenches on the heels of a recent growth spurt of a few inches and a strong spring performance. Roberts appears in some limited highlights and practice to do a good job getting off blocks and running well in pursuit of ball-carriers. And watching how he continues to develop his long, lean frame will be interesting for potential college opportunities.
Ellis Stewart Ellis Stewart 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Cecilia | 2025 State LA — 6-0, 170 WR — Cecilia (2025)
The multisport athlete, who also plays for the Bulldogs’ basketball team, is another potentially versatile weapon to watch in the program’s impressive 2025 class. Stewart has good quickness to dance around defenders and elude seemingly sure tackles and lists 4.6-second 40-yard speed.
1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW
Braylon Calais Braylon Calais 6'3" | 185 lbs | ATH Cecilia | 2027 State LA — 6-3, 185 ATH — Cecilia (2027)
The freshman-to-be had the opportunity to participate in spring practice and was already one of the bigger athletes on the field and showcased big-play ability on both sides of the ball that should make him among Louisiana’s first 20 or 30 prospects to know in the 2027 class. Calais has the explosiveness and long stride to be a frequent home-run threat on offense and already plays impressively fast and physical on defense. He and fellow freshman Franky Franks will be at least two new Bulldogs to monitor early in their careers.
