In this article I want to take a look back and see who has been making the biggest impact at the collegiate level since high school graduation. We are looking at every level. Let’s get it started!
Byrd has been an impact player since arriving at Northern Illinois. In two seasons and 22 games, Javaughn has compiled 78 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 6 PBUs. He made the jump to starter to end his freshman season. He is apart of a DB group in the WI Class of 2021 that has been making noise at the FBS level.
Carter started his college career as an LB at NDSU. Before the 2022 season he transferred to UW- Stevens Point. There the LB piled up 53 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble in 2022 alone. The LB was a weekly impact player for the Pointers in 2022. He will be a key piece on the defense as the Pointers look to turn their program around.
The alternate spring Covid season Player of the Year for PRZ WI was awarded to Kyle Walljasper after a dominant year at Fond du Lac. Since then he has gone on to be an impact player for the Duluth Bulldogs. In 2022 he went 61/95, 772 yards, 10 TDs, 146 carries, 810 rushing yards, and 11 rushing TDs. All in 10 games. It is great to see that same dual threat ability that shined in HS shine in college.
Cody was one of the most productive RBs in WI in 2021. He helped lead Union Grove on a deep playoff run, and then made his way to Upper Iowa. As a freshman, Cody made an instant impact on the field. He collected 35 tackles, 3 INTs, 8 pass break ups, and .5 TFLs. He saw the field right away in Week One, and didn’t look back. I’m excited to see how the DB’s career continues to play out.

Will was a huge get for Caroll U when he annoucned his commitment, and he has lived up to the high expectations in his freshman season. The 6′ 230 lbs LB piled up 63 tackles, 10 TFLs, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 1 FF, adn 1 FR. Campbell was all ovre rth efield. Will is going to be a force in the middle of the Carroll defense for years to come.

AJ was one of the most explosive players in the 2021 season. He stretched the field for Tosa East, and then went on to Wayne State. As a freshman at Wayne State, AJ worked his way onto the field and piled up 15 receptions for 261 yards, and a TD. It is clear the big play threat has carried that to the next level shown by his 17.4 yards pr reception average. The receptions and yards were good enough to finish 4th on the team. I’m excited to see the role he earns in 2023.

Jack Strand
Jack Strand
After ending his career at Bloomer HS Jack made his way to Minnesota State University- Moorhead. The big armed passer worked his way to the field quickly and saw action in nine games. He finished the season with an impressive 230/356, for 2,280 yards, and 16 TDs. It is great to see that he is living up to the potential that I saw during his time at Bloomer. A big arm, but also an accurate arm. Strand is on pace for a special college career. It is off to a great start.
