7A: Starkville
This team didn’t lose many seniors last season. Most of their impact players were underclassmen. Trey Petty Trey Petty 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Starkville | 2024 State MS is getting better everyday. Braylon Burnside Braylon Burnside 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH Starkville | 2024 State MS is keeping his speed up to par during track season. However, they now have Jay Stevenson Jay Stevenson 6'1" | 210 lbs | RB Starkville | 2024 State MS who recently transferred from Heritage Academy. That means that their running game is going to be more deadly. They have Jermar McCarter Jermar McCarter 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Starkville | 2024 State MS coming back to lead their defense. This team is going to be the truth again.
6A: Picayune
I honestly think Picayune is going to have a three peat. They are not losing many players to graduation this year. Picayune also has the four-star Chris Davis Chris Davis 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Picayune | 2024 State MS coming back. They will also have five-star Jamonta Waller Jamonta Waller 6'2" | 230 lbs | DL Picayune | 2024 State MS back on the scene. Can’t forget about three-star Darrell Smith Darrell Smith 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB Picayune | 2025 State MS . This team is truly loaded. Amarion Tyson Amarion Tyson 5'7" | 170 lbs | ATH Picayune Memorial | 2024 State MS will be back to do his best to be the number one tackler again. They also have Nacquis Ratcliff that will be back on defense doing his thing. The train just keeps on rolling in Picayune.
5A: West Point
West Point has been to the state title seven years in a row. This year is probably going to make their eighth consecutive trip. Kahnen Daniels Kahnen Daniels 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB West Point | 2024 State MS , a Florida Gator commit, is ready to lead their offense. Guys like Zayvian Lowery and Bryson Wells Bryson Wells 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB West Point | 2025 State MS are going to be the leaders of that front seven. Coledan Carter Coledan Carter 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH West Point | 2024 State MS will be backing making big hits in their secondary
4A: Louisville
The eleven time state champs look to win another ring in 2023. Xavier Hunt, Jykevious Goss, Xzarion Haynes Xzarion Haynes 5'9" | 150 lbs | RB Louisville | 2026 State MS , Kam Triplett and a lot more will be returning this season. Their whole offensive line is coming back. Their OL is full of freshman and sophomores. Tayquonn McKinney is going to be back on defense. They also have Semaj Knowles and Kenneth Hill back in the secondary.
3A: Noxubee Co
Noxubee County is a program that is going to produce every year. Kamario Taylor Kamario Taylor 6'4" | 180 lbs | QB Noxubee County | 2025 State MS and Dequadrion Welch Dequadrion Welch 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Noxubee County | 2024 State MS will be back next season. That is going to be a major force on their offense. Taylor and Welch are some studs who know how to handle business on the football field. This team was the state runner ups for 3A last year. They have some changes on defense, but things will be ok in Noxubee Co.
2A: Charleston
Charleston had a good year during the 2022 season. They were also state runner ups. They are returning Deondre Riley Deondre Riley 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Charleston | 2024 State MS along with some more studs. This is going to be a big year for him. I expect him to be a guy that helps them to get over the hump.
1A: Biggersville
I think the Lions have what it take to win it all this year. These guys are loaded this season. They have Jayce Taylor who is a freshman that is a big boy. A 6-1 215-pound guy with a lot of skills. Biggersville is a community loaded with talent. Their chances of being champions will always be high.
