Malcolm Simmons Malcolm Simmons 6’0″ | 165 lbs | ATH Benjamin Russell | 2024 State AL is a really talented player that has lined up at a variety of positions for Benjamin Russell the last two years who just came off of a really big breakout junior season that has caused his recruitment to pick up quite a bit. Simmons is a super athletic guy- no matter where you line him up on offense he’s going to find a way to get the ball moving. At WR Simmons does a great job using his 6’0 175 frame to physically dominate opposing DBs, he can high point the ball, has a great catch radius, and plays with a ton of toughness and physicality all while having the speed and long stride to make huge plays in the open field. Simmons’ speed and acceleration also really shines when he’s playing out of the backfield at RB- he is constantly finding the gap and accelerating lightning quick to get big gains. Recently, Simmons has seen an increase in his recruitment and has picked up offers from both Auburn and Coastal Carolina recently!
Clint Houser Clint Houser 5’10” | 165 lbs | ATH Saint James | 2024 State AL has been another super productive ATH in the state’s 2024 class, his production at Saint James the last few seasons has been really taking off. Houser plays with a lot of versatility on both sides of the ball at WR and DB and has an impressive, well rounded skill set at both positions. At WR, Houser has the speed to absolutely fly around the field and has become a super reliable deep threat for Saint James- in his last two seasons he’s been able to total up 967 yards and 15 touchdowns in the air for them. At DB, Houser has a really impressive set of coverage skills that has allowed him to lockdown a lot of opposing WRs. He uses the same speed and quickness he does at WR to never let anybody burn him deep downfield. Recently Houser just picked up offers from Middle Tennessee State and North Alabama, and after being slept on the last few seasons and he is set up for a big senior year this fall where he is sure to add more to that list!
Jamari Payne Jamari Payne 6’3″ | 255 lbs | DL Loachapoka | 2024 State AL is a dominant player in the trenches for Loachapoka and has seen his recruitment really open up big time in the last year due to how well he’s been playing. Payne is a big athletic dude, standing at 6’3 255 with the kind of speed and power he has, its ridiculous how easy he makes it look to take down the quarterback. Payne had a huge junior season in the trenches last fall, he posted up 61 total tackles (27.5 of those for loss) and 6.5 sacks. Payne has a great burst off the line, has a good variety of pass rush moves, and can stop the run with ease. Currently, Payne has offers listed from Missouri, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and more!Keep an eye on him this fall, he’s set up for a huge senior year!
Jayden Davis Jayden Davis 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Thompson | 2024 State AL is a really versatile, talented LB that has been a core piece of what Thompson’s dominant defense has been able to do the last few years. Davis is a phenomenal tackler, he pursues after the ball carrier with such speed and ferocity and constantly wraps up and makes tackles regardless of where the play on the field is headed. Davis also can deliver some big time hits in the backfield- if you send him on a blitz he definitely can make some magic happen, he’s incredibly powerful and flies downfield with tons of intensity to make plays in the backfield on a routine basis. Last fall Davis made plays nearly everywhere on the field for Thompson, totaling up 55 total tackles (10 of those for loss), 4 sacks, and one forced fumble with two recoveries. With stats like that, it’s no wonder why his recruitment has opened up like it has- recently, Davis has picked up offers from Marshall, North Alabama and UT Martin!
