Prep Redzone Louisiana’s latest rankings updates wrapped up last month, but more student-athletes are popping onto the radar and watch lists to monitor heading into the next round of updates this summer.
Here are six more current sophomores to keep an eye as we receive more film and get out to spring practices on the horizon later this month.
Cedric Dennis Cedric Dennis 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Booker T Washington (Shreveport) | 2025 LA — 6-0, 220 LB — Booker T. Washington (Shreveport)
The young inside linebacker had a productive sophomore campaign this fall, earning all-district second-team honors as one of his Lions’ intriguing underclassmen. Dennis shows good patience, vision and motor on film as he works through traffic, sheds blocks and pursues and wraps up plays all over the field with strong tackling and also appears just as comfortable dropping into coverage and showing enough quickness to stick with smaller backs and receivers.
Kenyatta Fleet Kenyatta Fleet 6'3" | 180 lbs | ATH Hammond | 2025 State LA — 6-3, 180 DB/WR — Hammond
The tall, long athlete has some experience playing both ways, but primarily at safety where he looks best-suited long-term. Fleet does a nice job covering big chunks of field on the back end of his Tornadoes’ defense and tracking, high-pointing and making plays on the ball in the air, but looks just as comfortable coming down into the box and off the edge to make physical plays near or behind the line of scrimmage.
Landon Hammond Landon Hammond 6'2" | 160 lbs | DB Opelousas | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 160 DB — Opelousas
Yet another intriguing 2025 talent at Opelousas to keep an eye on. Running back D’Shaun Ford D’Shaun Ford 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Opelousas | 2025 State LA , edge rusher Corey Amos Corey Amos 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Opelousas | 2025 State LA and wide receiver Korey Fontenot Korey Fontenot 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Opelousas | 2025 State LA are all already ranked. And the long, lean cornerback with quick change of direction and a listed 4.47-second 40-yard dash looks likely to join that mix during the next update.
Kevin Rideau Jr. Kevin Rideau Jr. 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Westlake | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 170 ATH — Westlake
The Rams graduate a pair of versatile multisport stars in 2023 who were ranked by Prep Redzone Louisiana in Tristan Goodly Tristan Goodly 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Westlake | 2023 State LA and Kristian Ozane Kristian Ozane 6'0" | 195 lbs | DB Westlake | 2023 State LA , and Rideau appears to be the next — or one of the next — to watch. The long, lean athlete earned experience this fall as a dual-threat quarterback with a big arm and long stride as well as making some big plays downfield on both sides of the ball as a receiver and defensive back before transitioning into an all-district honorable-mention basketball season and now track as a standout high-jumper.
DaVekio Ruffin DaVekio Ruffin 5'6" | RB Zachary | 2025 LA — 5-6 RB — Zachary
The sophomore speedster is an interesting weapon to watch the next couple years in the Broncos’ backfield and potentially beyond. The youth track standout with a listed 4.6-second 40-yard dash showed a breakaway top gear in the open field this fall at the junior varsity level, along with some sharp, quick cuts around defenders to get there and strong balance through contact to power his way for additional yards.
Alex Schoonover Alex Schoonover 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR C.E. Byrd | 2025 State LA — 6-0, 180 WR — C.E. Byrd
The Shreveport area already has a few wide receivers firmly positioned in Prep Redzone Louisiana’s 2025 rankings, and Schoonover may be the next to join. The multisport athlete, also a basketball player for his Yellow Jackets, has good size — both in terms of his height and a thickness to his frame — and appears to track the ball well to make even contested catches.
