Continue ReadingThe Beach Conference has plenty of studs all over the district but we have to talk about Gerard Johnson Gerard Johnson 6’4″ | 215 lbs | DL Frank W. Cox | 2024 State VA . At 6’4 and 235 lbs. Johnson has a ferocious bull rush and is light on his feet making him a nightmare matchup. There are plenty of reasons why he has over 15 division 1 offers already and is one of top defensive end recruits in the country. Tallying 8 sacks last year despite constant double teams is impressive enough, what stands out even more on film is his motor. Whether the Falcons line him up in a four point stance or standing up, the young man will never make it easy for you to block him. This 3 star defensive end has schools such as Virginia Tech, Kent State and Wake Forest in his top 8, the way he is trending I would expect that list to grow.

Kole Gresham
Kole Gresham
Gresham is one of the most versatile lineman in the district as can Center, Guard, Tackle or anywhere on the defensive line. The kid is a menace and is a team first player always lining up wherever the Falcons need him. Standing at 6’1 and 230 lbs. Gresham will start to draw attention of Division 2 and FCS schools across the state this spring, you can be sure of that. Being a two year start for the Cox Falcons has worked out well for him, I think he may be best off at defensive tackle in college but will see what 2023 brings for this stud.

Isaak Mihalap
Isaak Mihalap
Mihalap returns for the Falcons as well as they look advance further in the State playoffs than last year and they have the horses to do it. Mihalap is certainly one of them as he is excellent hybrid linebacker/defensive end similar to what you see out of Hassan Reddick in the NFL. When called upon this kid can rush the passer on the outside with a great mix of speed and power. His footwork allow him to excel in his coverage also and he play more tight end this year too.

Adam Murphy
Adam Murphy
By the time Murphy’s high school career is over he may lead the nation in Interceptions as he has 9 already under his belt. The Sundevils already know what they have in Murphy, soon enough the rest of the state will too. This young man has great instincts and a nose for the football, he has the speed and size to play at least FCS if not FBS level ball. The two time first team all-district selection, he can play both defensive back and safety.

Princeton Ortiz
Princeton Ortiz
We will end part 2 with Ortiz who despite an injury last year managed to achieve All-Region Honors and he has the leg to back it up. Ortiz not only has power to drive home 40 plus yard field goals, he is very accurate and precise. You can see on his film how much time and preparation he puts in and that translates into the classroom too (3.3 GPA). I could certainly see this young man kicking at the next level possibly division 2 or the FCS level. Either way he is another name to keep you eye on for the Salem Sundevils.
