Friday, the teammates took a visit to UNLV, touring the campus and football facilities.
Posa, who’s also a state champion wrestler, was offered by New Mexico last June prior to his sophomore season. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Posa then registered 80 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 9 sacks and 5 interceptions to help lead the Bears to the Class 6A state championship game.
With two more seasons of high school football ahead of him, Posa will have college recruiters flocking to Albuquerque.
So will Dyer. He has one of the toughest jobs in New Mexico high school football this coming season as he succeeds Lobos signee Aidan Armenta Aidan Armenta 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB La Cueva | 2023 State NM at quarterback for La Cueva.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Dyer displayed his elite athleticism and unique all-around skills last season for the Bears as the La Cueva coaches found different ways to get him on the field.
Dyer served as a quarterback (302 passing yards, 4 TD), running back (275 rushing yards, 4 TD), wide receiver (34 receptions for 583 yards, 5 TD) and kick returner (returned kickoff for TD in state championship game) for La Cueva in 2022.
Now his objective is to become the state’s top passing quarterback over the next two seasons.
