Malachi Brown Malachi Brown 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB San Jacinto | 2024 State CA (San Jacinto) and Maxwell Turner Maxwell Turner 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Granite Hills | 2025 State CA (Granite Hills) are two of the state’s best in the 2025 class.
Highlights
Brown was the best overall athlete and highest-ranked prospect at the event. San Jacinto’s leading rusher from last season is a high-upside playmaker that dominated 1v1 matchups with LBs in coverage and flashed creativity as a ball handler. He offers D-I upside with a dynamic combination of speed (fastest 40 of the day: 4.61), elusiveness, and agility out of the backfield. Brown, who picked up offers from Arizona and Boise St. in 2022, rushed for over 1200 yards and 18 TDs as a junior.
Highlights
Rodenbaugh dominated his 1v1 pass reps vs LBs. He’s a smooth, natural athlete that tested near the top of every category among his position group and showed ability to run the entire route-tree out of the backfield. He’s a taller back at 5’10”/175 with good body control/coordination and overall feel for the game. Rodenbaugh’s a two-sport athlete (football, baseball) that’s generated interest from multiple Ivy League programs and picked up an offer from Grinnell in March.
Highlights
Turner’s size, build, and skillset are reminiscent of another recent San Diego prospect, 2023 #1 RB-Roderick Robinson. Turner’s a stout, physical athlete with a powerful build and churning downhill speed. He was a top tester among RBs including a third-best 4.47 in the 40. Turner totaled 800 rushing yards and 11 TDs while sharing the backfield with fellow 2025 standout RB Isaiah Jackson. Turner’s an easy candidate to pick up D-I offers/interest in 2023.
Highlights
Sonnenberg’s a smaller back measuring 5’5”/155 with notable agility and receiving skills out of the backfield. He showed ability to create separation from LBs in coverage and natural hands finishing the catch. Sonnenberg had limited opportunities as a junior and should be an intriguing, versatile weapon for Edison this season.
