Marian Catholic went through their ups-and-downs but overall shoed some promise with a 4-6 record including 3-5 in conference play. They would trade wins and losses through their first seven games, finding themselves at 4-3 heading into the middle of October. However, a tough schedule at the end of the season against Williams Valley, Tri-Valley, and Pine Grove resulted in a three game losing streak to end their season. Their defense for the most part was fantastic, allowing just 193 points over their 10 games, an average of 19.3 points a game. They did struggle offensively though, scoring just 15.3 points per game.
Key Losses:
Key Returnees:
2025 TE Michael Gelatko Michael Gelatko 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Marian Catholic | 2025 State PA
2023 Outlook:
The good news for Marian Catholic is that they will return most of their talent from the 2022 season. The one major member they will have to replace offensively is running back Matt Matrin who totaled 773 yards over 176 carries this past season. Junior Jayden Fermin looks like the likely starting running back heading into next season. He totaled 154 yards over 34 carries in 2022. Junior quarterback Bruce Hopeck also returns as well as 2025 tight end Michael Gelatko Michael Gelatko 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Marian Catholic | 2025 State PA , the only current Colt in our rankings.
Defensively, they’ll lose their top two tacklers but return the Rodino brothers (James and Jesse) who each and 80 or more tackles last season and 15 or more tackles for a loss. Also look out for Nova McGuire, Gelatko, Fermin, and Micahel Silliman on defense among others.
Overall, Marian’s defense will likely once again be leaned on heavily to win the Colts games next season. If the offense could take a step forward, they have a chance to compete for the Colonial-Schuylkill Blue division title.
