Continue ReadingThe Defensive Line is one of if not my favorite positions to watch. The D-Line is tasked with winning the trenches and keeping the offense from being able to move the sticks. Without a solid D-Line, a team can crumble, and I’ve seen it many times before. Thankfully, these five players give their teams confidence in the D-Line for another two years. All of these guys did well last season but are trending toward potentially being great!
Bobby Kanka Bobby Kanka 6'4" | 255 lbs | DL Howell | 2025 State MI | Howell | Hudl
This is cheating, but whatever. I know that Bobby Kanka Bobby Kanka 6'4" | 255 lbs | DL Howell | 2025 State MI is already a prime D1 prospect, but I’m just looking forward to a full, healthy season from him. Against nearly all KLAA opponents, Bobby is unblockable. This is a talented prospect who also cares quite a bit about his craft and works very hard at it. Big, moves well, powerful, and overall incredible potential at DE or TE. A sure-fire DPOTY candidate and maybe even in the Mr. Football conversation.
Carson Kubczak Carson Kubczak 6'2" | 250 lbs | DL Grandville | 2025 MI | Grandville | Hudl
Although there isn’t a ton of film on Carson, I’m really impressed with what is available. Right off the bat, his 6’0, 240lb size stands out quite a bit. He has some great power and gets off the ball fast. He reminds me of IDL prospect Kalijah Cancey in that Carson may seem undersized, but his getoff, power, and overall play style make him a super productive and unique player. I hope to see much more of Carson next season, as I see a ton of potential!
Jevon Jones Jr Jevon Jones Jr 6'4" | 260 lbs | DL Harper Woods | 2025 MI | Harper Woods | Hudl
Jevon has a ton of physical gifts that make him a great interior defensive lineman. Standing at 6’4, Jevon towers over a ton of HS O-Linemen and is a big problem in the interior. I like how Jevon always stands his ground, and he’s able to make great plays based on his size alone. Though in his film, I saw many instances where he could have asserted himself more, been more physical against an inferior lineman, or just played with more effort. If Jevon can learn how to truly use his gifts and assert his dominance on the line, he could have one heck of a Junior season!
Aidan Lindsay Aidan Lindsay 6'3" | 205 lbs | DL Dakota | 2025 MI | Dakota | Hudl
I really like what Aidan brings to the table, and trust he’ll show significant improvement next season. Aidan looks solid against the run and pass and shows flashes of greatness at times. Against the pass, Aiden knows how to get around blocks and has some nice rush moves. I’d like to see more speed and smoothness with his pass rush, but he’s already solid in that department. Against the run, Aiden anchors himself well and is able to hit hard when an opportunity presents itself.
Jake Gartin Jake Gartin 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL Notre Dame Prep | 2025 MI | ND Prep | Hudl
Last year, Jake was a fine varsity athlete but has the potential to be quite good. I really like his size, and there were times when he could stop the run pretty well. This is a player where if he has a super productive offseason, you’ll end up seeing vast improvements in his game. Love the potential as a true run-stopper.
