The new Mt. Zion Academy addition Octavion Taylor Octavion Taylor 6’0″ | 220 lbs | LB Oscar Smith | 2025 State VA is a bad man on that defensive line. The Oscar Smith transfer was already on our radar prior and now has perhaps even more opportunities to get the recognition he deserves. The 2nd team all region defensive tackle in 2022, Taylor plays with a high motor and constantly commands double teams. You just love to see his effort on every play, particularly when he chasing down running backs downfield, the kid’s motor is non-stop. While the interest in him from colleges is not there yet, before the end of his junior year that will be bound to change.

Highlights
Sidney Coleman
Sidney Coleman
A lot of potential from this young man, already standing at 6’2 and over 300 lbs., he stands out on both sides of the line. Coleman is a big time defensive tackle for the Warriors but I really like his potential on the offensive line. He may or may not want to hear that, just the way he can get to the next level on his blocks and his footwork at Guard are very impressive. The Warriors defense will be loaded come Fall and Coleman should start attracting Division 1 suitors soon. I expect a big leap out of him for his Junior year campaign, he is at the right place to do it.

A two sport star in Football and Baseball there is a good chance Micah Matthews Micah Matthews 6’3″ | 205 lbs | ATH Turner Ashby | 2025 State VA plays both in college. He has already committed to South Carolina for baseball, but his play on the football field is not to be ignored. The All region wide receiver is a great combination of strength and speed reminds me of Terrell Owens (minus the antics). Matthews rarely goes down on first contact and will pull away from the defenders at anytime. You can see on his tape how his baseball skills transition to the football field and vice versa, what he ends up pursuing in college that remains to be seen.
