The state of Texas was well represented in Fayetteville, Arkansas over the weekend last weekend. In this article, we are going to shine a spotlight on some talented prospects that have drawn the interest of the Razorbacks. Over the next few years, old Southwest Conference rivalries will be renewed in the SEC. This makes for a great time to look at the recruiting battles already going on between strong programs.
Lance Jackson Lance Jackson 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Pleasant Grove | 2025 State TX -Defensive Line-Pleasant Grove-2025-6’5” 250-Pounds
Over the years, Pleasant Grove has done an impressive job of producing talented players. Jackson is a versatile defensive line prospect that can play the edge rush or defensive tackle position with equal effectiveness. I like his ability to move all over the defensive line and defeat blocks to get into the opposing offensive backfield. Jackson spent last weekend in Northwest Arkansas taking in the Arkansas football spring game. Jackson is a prospect with the potential to see playing time on Saturdays in the future.
Kaleb James Kaleb James 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL Mansfield | 2023 State TX -Defensive Line-Mansfield-2023-6’4” 250-Pounds
Kaleb James Kaleb James 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL Mansfield | 2023 State TX signed with the Arkansas Razorbacks during the early signing period in December of last year. James is an edge rusher that does a great job of using his speed to get into the opposing offensive backfield. He does an excellent of getting his hands up to bat down passes and cause plenty of disruption for the opposing quarterback. He has the experience and the versatility to play all along the defensive front. Arkansas has got a talented prospect with the potential to find the field sooner rather than later.
Jaden Allen Jaden Allen 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Aledo | 2024 State TX -Defensive Back-Aledo-2024-5’10” 155-Pounds
Jaden Allen Jaden Allen 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Aledo | 2024 State TX is a defensive back that has impressive speed. Allen had the opportunity to visit Fayetteville last weekend. He has no trouble playing the safety or cornerback positions. Allen does a terrific job of being able to read the quarterback’s eyes and make a play on the ball. He is a defensive back that is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers. Allen has the speed and coverage ability to play either the safety or cornerback positions at the next level. With Arkansas, Texas, and Alabama all in the mix for the talented Aledo defensive back, he is a prospect to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Nate Palmer-Running Back-Decatur-2024-6’0” 190-Pounds
The Decatur running back had the opportunity to spend last weekend in Northwest Arkansas taking in the Arkansas spring football game. Palmer does a great job of allowing the rushing lane to develop. Meanwhile, he is a running back that can catch the ball out of the backfield or split out wide at the receiver position. Palmer has impressive speed, and he is running back to keep an eye over the next few months. I expect a big 2023 season from the talented Decatur running back.
Zadian Gentry-Defensive Back-McKinney-2025-6’1” 270-Pounds
The state of Texas is loaded with talented defensive backs over the next few seasons. Zadian Gentry is the type of cornerback that can play physically with opposing wide receivers or drop back into coverage. He has the speed to cause plenty of problems for opposing defensive backs. The McKinney defensive back spent last weekend in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks seem to be putting plenty of energy and focus on the defensive side of the ball. I look for Gentry to be a major target for Arkansas over the next few seasons.
