Les Schwab Bowl Draft: Notable Selections+ Video TEAM COLUMBIA

A lot of credit to the Les Schwab Bowl and Scorebook Live on last night's featured draft. 4x state champion Coach Steve Pyne of Central Catholic (Team Columbia) and Coach Josh Line of Sheldon HS (Team Willamette) made their selections while Andrew Nemec and myself provided analysis.    Check out a few of the notable selections for each team and the full draft link below..              Team Columbia- Coach Steve Pyne         [player_tooltip player_id='406759' first='Zac' last='Stascausky'] 6-5 255 T 25' Central Catholic   Stascausky might have been the most talked about athlete during the broadcast, with Coach Pyne taking him with the #2 overall selection. As referenced CC has produced numerous D1 and NFL athletes over the years and Coach seems to think he could be another one.    [player_tooltip player_id='152333' first='Lonnie' last='Burt'] Jr. 6-1 210 RB/LB 24' Jesuit   We also talked a lot on Burt Jr. and what he could do next season. Look for the 1st team all league LB to lead the state in the rushing yards and TD's. With the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id='205822' first='Payton' last='Roth'] you can expect LBJ to put up some ridiculous #s.    [player_tooltip player_id='285851' first='Jace' last='Eveland'] 6-7 330 T 25' Putnam   Eveland was selected as part of a 6-7 trio in one round by Coach Pyne. The NWOC POY was one of the first freshman ever to play in the game. He will have as much to prove as anyone going up against legit competition.    [player_tooltip player_id='738683' first='Trent' last='Ferguson'] 6-7 320 T 24' West Salem   The Oregon commit and #4 overall prospect for 2024 was another kid widely spoken on, with his potential being limitless. The Oregon all star game will be his first true test after playing four regular season games last year.    [player_tooltip player_id='152653' first='Zhaiel' last='Smith'] 6-0 180 WR 25' Central Catholic   The state's #1 recruit for 2025. Smith earned 1st team all league honors last season and was one of only three sophomore's to earn all state accolades. His recent Arizona St offer all the more solidifies him as one of the best in the West for his class.   [player_tooltip player_id='442249' first='Hayden' last='George'] 6-4 235 OLB/TE 24' Lebanon   We talked on George a lot. Look for him to hold numerous division 1 offers before he is done. He is one of the fastest rising prospects in the state and a potential top 10 guy.   [player_tooltip player_id='376115' first='Cody' last='White'] 6-7 265 T 23' Estacada   White obviously has phenomenal size and did well, helping the Rangers to the 4A state title. This will be a nice test against good competition before he starts his career at Oregon St.    [player_tooltip player_id='769993' first='Rasean' last='Jones'] 6-2 195 WR 26' Baker   Another kid we talked about a lot, as Jones earned 4A all state honors as a freshman, and is listed among the fastest athletes in the nation for his class in Track. It's rare to have such a talent out in rural Eastern Oregon so this game will be telling, especially still being so young.    Ryder McElroy 6-3 230 DE 23' Wilsonville   One of the more underrated kids in the state in my opinion. McElroy earned NWOC Defensive POY honors, leading 5A oregon in Sacks with 14 and being named 1st team all state. He has something to prove as well.    [player_tooltip player_id='110579' first='Garrett' last='Speer'] 6-1 185 WLB 23' Jesuit   Speer is just an outstandiing overall athlete. The Metro league Defensive POY will get to finish out against other legit competition, as he was a big reason for the Crusaders success last year.    [player_tooltip player_id='152362' first='Ethan' last='Burkhead'] 5-11 180 RB/S 24' Thurston   As noted during the draft analysis, Burkhead has legit speed but has been hurt for the better part of three years. Look for him to make the move to RB for the Colts and be one of the top players in the state at the 5A level if he can stay healthy.    [player_tooltip player_id='278441' first='Keaten' last='Fried'] 6-0 205 WLB 24' Sherwood   Fried played out of his mind last year, being named the Pacific Conference Defensive POY. He had a good off season on the 7v7 circuit as well with Team Alpha, and will have an opportunity to back up his accoaldes, against some of the state's best.
