All teams came prepared to stake a claim to the bragging rights for who’s who amongst the Nation’s elite 7v7 teams. Teams arrived from coast to coast in the great state of Texas for a showdown of precision passing, jaw-dropping catches, and the breaking out of the “straps” by defenses. Let’s take a look at a few standouts.
Marco Beltran (2026) is A 5’9 165 defensive back who has an outstanding feel for the game. Beltran impressed at this past weekend’s DR7 tournament in Round Rock. He possesses the skillset to play offense or defense with equal impact. Beltran was found playing the nickel and safety positions on defense and could constantly be found locking routes and route runners with his speedy feet and disciplined eyes. He will be a sophomore next year at College Park high school in The Woodlands, Texas. Look for him to be a major player on varsity next season.
AJ Sprouse stood out at the DR7 tournament in Round Rock this past weekend. This kid is built like the second coming of Maurice Jones-Drew. Sprouse is a do it all running back who routinely pulled in one-handed grabes out of the backfield. He comes equipped with a robust lower trunk that allows him to play low to the ground with great shiftiness. He can go from 0-100 in a blink and has good top-end speed. Sprouse even got in the action on defense at the nickel position. I expect his role next season at Atascocita High School to be filled with breakout performances while his recruitment gains momentum.
Zach Allen was all over the field at the DR7 on offense and defense. The sophomore played on both 15u and 18u teams which says a great deal about his competitive nature and ability. Allen stands 5’10 and weighs 170 pounds. He played with great max effort and always seemed to be closing to the hips of the receiver on defense. He pulled in a beautiful 20 plus yard touchdown catch in pool play against other Houston power 7v7 team Fast Houston. This is a kid who oozed confidence and potential. Keep an eye and ear out for the name Zach Allen of Conroe Tiger football.
Marc Jones Marc Jones 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Conroe | 2025 State TX is a name on the rise with uber athleticism. Jones was a lockdown artist on both 15u and 18u teams for Team Texas Fury at the DR7. Both teams were plagued by injuries and Jones stepped up to take up the slack from the cornerback and safety positions. Jones didn’t mind getting physical, diving, pressing, or even being coached up on what he needed to improve on. Jones also responded to adversity well during the tournament and showed great staying power. Marc Jones Marc Jones 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Conroe | 2025 State TX has recently been given a ranking and looks to move up that list pretty quickly with his play evolving on an upward trajectory.
