Texas football is a culture in itself that rears athletes at an early age to be flexible in learning multiple skillsets and positions. Take a look at a few athletes who embody that exact title on the field from multiple positions.
Terry Bussey Terry Bussey 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Timpson | 2024 State TX I 2024 I WR/ATH I 5’10 180 I TIMPSON I TIMPSON, TEXAS
Terry Bussey Terry Bussey 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Timpson | 2024 State TX is rated as the #1 athlete in Texas out of Timpson. LSU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech are believed to be the front runners for his services. Bussey is a powerhouse of an athlete that can play any position on the field. He toys with his opponents in a bully-like fashion whether on offense or defense. At times the film makes him look like he’s bored while making plays; it appears that easy. Which ever school snags Bussey will be getting a gadget type of player that can benefit the program in all three phases. He is definitely and early signing nominee.
Prince Pugh I 2024 I WR/ATH I 5’9 165 I LAMAR I HOUSTON, TEXAS
As shifty as they come, Prince Pugh is an athlete that has been making major noise on the 7v7 circuit this Spring with his powerful slot-based route running. He is compact and plays with a tenacity that can’t be taught. Standing at 5’9 165 he has a frame that is still growing and can hold more weight. Pugh is a dedicated athlete that explained that his secret to his sudden athletic burst is two a day workout that start at hitting the gym at 5:30 am daily, then school, after school workouts, then personal training. This kid’s snap down to burst technique is a must see along with his sticky mitts for hands. Pugh recently transferred to Lamar High School and has already been dubbed as WR1 in their spread attack. Once in the open field its “Bye Bye” time with the ball in this players possession. The name Prince Pugh is about to be a mainstay on the Texas recruiting circuit.
Hunter Moddon Hunter Moddon 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Clear Lake | 2024 State TX I 2024 I WR/ATH I 6’0 175 I CLEAR LAKE I HOUSTON, TEXAS
Hunter Moddon Hunter Moddon 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Clear Lake | 2024 State TX is a Texas Longhorns commit that is a YAK master. This kid is a highlight waiting to happen on any and every play. Possessing the perfect combination of intentional route running and burst to speed ratio after the catch is something to see. Coach Sark and the Horns are fortunate to nab his pledge early due to his film having programs from around the country salivating over ways in which he could be weaponized for their benefit. If Texas is smart, they will work hard to keep him grounded to his commitment and not get flipped in the 9th hour of signing because Moddon is just that good and sought after.
Aeryn Hampton Aeryn Hampton 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Daingerfield | 2024 State TX I 2024 I ATH I 5’10 175 I CARTHAGE I CARTHAGE, TEXAS
Aeryn Hampton Aeryn Hampton 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Daingerfield | 2024 State TX is simply put, a “FLAT OUT FOOTBALL PLAYER!” He is a ball hawk on defense from the safety position and a human highlight on offense. There is one play from his film where he literally puts the entire defense in a spin cycle after his catch. That one clip tells you all you need to know about his ability, IQ, and determination to turn good plays into great ones. Texas is trying their best to keep him in state, but the Crimson Tide are doing a great job of rolling into Carthage to sweep him away. This battle for his pledge should be a doozy to watch coming down the stretch.
