The kid out of Summit HS in Bend, OR helped his team win the 5A title, after leading the state in sacks and forced fumbles last season.
Allers was ranked the state’s #3 overall recruit by PRZ and could very well have the highest ceiling of any athlete in his class. Speaking to his recent decision Chip says, “It has always been a dream of mine to play for the University of Oregon. I’ve been a fan my entire life. My grandfather was the first strength and conditioning coach for the University of Oregon under Rich Brooks.”
Expect Allers to be a multi year starter and one of the top LBs in the Pac 12 before he is done. I’m not even sure if the Ducks realize what a freak athlete they just landed. He played out of position for a majority of his HS career, and would have been the state’s leading rusher if he was the Storm’s primary RB.
Separate from his 4.1 GPA, he brings a lot to the table you can’t teach, as the Ducks should be able to add and build upon his arsenal of talents. His combination of size and 4.5 laser speed are part of what makes Allers upside so high. He was offered by all of the military institutions in Navy, Army, and Air Force with Miami and Stanford both getting in the mix from a preferred walk on standpoint.
With Idaho offeing as well, but not the rest of the Big Sky, it begs the question is this the biggest miss since All American DB Anthony Adams made his intentions known and committed to Portland State? Only time will tell.
That said as Chip found his home in Eugene and should thrive saying, “The coaches are amazing and I really like what they have planned for me. As soon as I set foot on campus it felt like home and a perfect fit.”
A lot of credit to the Ducks for swooping on Allers. He has the potential to be a major factor in the not so distant future.
