Prep Redzone Louisiana’s latest rankings updates wrapped up last month, but more student-athletes are popping onto the radar and watch lists to monitor heading into the next round of updates this summer.
Here are six more current sophomores to keep an eye as we receive more film and get out to spring practices on the horizon later this month.
Shadrack Allen Shadrack Allen 5'9" | 150 lbs | ATH White Castle | 2025 State LA — 5-9, 150 ATH — White Castle
The hyper-versatile three-phase dynamo for the Bulldogs may be one of the state’s best-kept secrets in the class. Allen has been a playmaker as a receiver, defensive back, return man and quarterback for White Castle with electric quickness and elusiveness to escape the tightest of quarters, make defenders miss and explode off to the races with good track speed.
Christian Blackmon Christian Blackmon 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Northwood (Shreveport) | 2025 State LA — 6-2, 210 LB — Northwood (Shreveport)
Blackmon appears to be one of the next budding standouts to watch on the Falcons’ defense, as well as on the school’s baseball team as a pitcher and outfielder. The young linebacker already has good size at his age — and strength to blow up attempted blocks — and moves well laterally to remain low and square while quickly cover multiple gaps and bounce outside.
Dane Dixon Dane Dixon 5'11" | 160 lbs | DB Barbe | 2025 State LA — 5-11, 160 DB — Barbe
The multi-sport standout, also a member of the Buccaneers’ perennial powerhouse baseball program, was a young leader on the football field as a sophomore cornerback this fall with 39 tackles, including a couple for loss, and two interceptions and another 10 break-ups. Dixon is light and springy on his feet, changing directions quickly and tracking the ball well on passes anywhere to his area of the field.
Jeremy Fisher Jr. Jeremy Fisher Jr. 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 170 RB — Catholic (Baton Rouge)
and Rylan Parker Rylan Parker 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2025 State LA — 5-10, 190 RB — Catholic (Baton Rouge)
The Bears were already able to trust and rely on their sophomore running back duo consistently, including in major moments, in big-time games this past season as 2024 standout Barry Remo Barry Remo 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2024 State LA II worked his way back from injury. Both Fisher and Parker ran with good patience, leverage and ball security and enough quickness and burst to make a defender miss and be quickly upfield for another 10-15 yards.
Jaylon Nichols Jaylon Nichols 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Neville | 2025 State LA — 5-11, 170 RB — Neville
The young running back put together an all-district, 1,000-yard sophomore campaign as he succeeded Nebraska signee Anthony “Ajay” Allen Jr. in the Tigers’ backfield, including a nearly 200-yard performance in a second-round playoff victory. Nichols runs hard, does a nice job of keeping his legs moving through contact and shows an explosive, breakaway burst when he hits the hole or finds a free lane at the second level.
