I am looking for knew names that deserve to be in the rankings, under recruited standouts, and rising underclassmen. It is a talented region of the state based off what I am seeing from this first group of athletes. Let’s start with one of the most physical FBs you will come across this fall.
The 6’1″ 210 lbs FB out of Potosi- Cassville is a monster on tape. The power that Roman generates leaps off his junior highlights. He runs so naturally behind his pads. His feet never seem to quit moving until the whistle blows. It isn’t just as a ball carrier either. Roman is an exceptionally talented lead blocker. He has the strength to bury LBs into the ground or drive them out of the hole to open up huge gaps. When he does get the ball, the defense better have their chin straps tight because Roman makes them earn every tackle. Roman also has the necessary speed to play at the next level. Teams that utilize a FB need to check out the tape below.
Platteville has an intriguing junior edge defender on their roster. Checking in at 6’8″, Zach has elite length that is needed to shine on the edge. McClain amplifies his length by utilizing active hands. OTs have a hard time getting their hands on the junior because he is able to knock them away way before the OT can reach his chest. Zach is a long strider that covers ground faster than it seems. He closes quickly on QBs and again uses that length to corral the ball carrier for tackles. Zach also gets some work as a TE and is a mismatch nightmare in the redzone. He posterizes DBs in the endzone as he goes over the top of them with his huge catch radius. Look for Zach to make a big rise over this next year.
Garrison Tashner

Garrison led the way on the receiving end for Platteville in 2022, and will be in position to repeat that in 2023. The 6′ 160 lbs junior impressed me with his nuanced route running. He gets DBs to bite or commit with his head fakes and double moves. Tashner is a smooth athlete also. He is able to get out of his breaks quickly and open up a lot of separation. Especially when he is using double moves. Garrison has reliable hands as well. Tashner also sees the field well, and that has led to his use as a return man. I’m excited to see what his final campaign looks like. Have him on your radar.
Ty is a quickly rising RB on my radar. The 6′ 215 lbs junior is a very well put together athlete. He has been putting up monster numbers in the weight room and at showcases this offseason. His junior highlights have me excited to see his offseason hard work be put to work. As a junior, Ty showed off patience as a runner between the tackles. He allowed his blocks to develop and then used his burst and superior long speed to pick up big chunks of yardage. Wagner also has a low center of gravity that has proven to be very hard to knock off balance. Ty take hits and keeps chugging forward. He also has proven that he will move the pile. You better have a swarming defense to consistently bring down the RB.
