Nothing is ever given but everything is always earned according to Texas high school football culture. The young men mentioned in this article have grown accustomed to these southern truths and have replied with a resounding, “Lets Go!”
DJ “LAG” LAGWAY
DUAL THREAT QUARTERBACK •6’3″ | 225 | LBS CLASS OF 2024 @ WILLIS | WILLIS, TX
Derek (DJ) Lagway Derek (DJ) Lagway 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Willis | 2024 State TX , son of former Baylor bear great Derrick Lagway Sr. is arguably the best quarterback in the country regardless of graduating class. This quarterback’s attention to detail when it comes to the small things that make up the big things is amazing. Many high school quarterbacks and even college quarterbacks struggle to work through their progressions and deliver a strike into a window. Lagway is the opposite in the fact that he doesn’t use his athleticism as a crutch. To the contrary, he uses body posture, a continuously loaded back leg, manipulative pocket agility to aid the offensive line, and panning eyes for anticipatory throws. If all else fails, Lagway uses that athleticism in that 6’3.5 225 pound frame and scrambles with his eyes down field to extend the play before having to take off as a last result. Now that’s different. Lags is currently the number one rated quarterback in the Lone Star state by a mile and has given his commitment to the Gators of Florida.
DRE’LON MILLER
WIDE RECEIVER •6’2″ | 190 LBS / CLASS OF 2024 @ SILSBEE | SILSBEE, TX
Dre’lon Miller is a big and fast target at 6’2 190 and still growing. His film shows how he is able to use that very frame with precise athleticism due to his spectacular body control. Miller is skilled at the art of finding the soft zone and sitting in a moving window for his signal caller. Miller is also Mr. Sticky Fingers in the redzone when it comes to 50/50 balls and muscling the apex of the route. He is projected to head to Texas A&M but Texas may have something to say about that in the end when it’s all said and done.
“BIG” Blake Frazier Blake Frazier 6'6" | 265 lbs | OL Vandergrift | 2024 State TX
OFFENSIVE TACKLE •6’6″ | 260 LBS / CLASS OF 2024 @ VANDEGRIFT | AUSTIN, TX
You may want to call Blake Frazier Blake Frazier 6'6" | 265 lbs | OL Vandergrift | 2024 State TX the chef because he can be found constantly serving up pancakes to opposing defenders. Frazier is super sound in kick sliding and is a knee bender instead of a waste bender in pass pro which signifies great strength, balance, and athleticism. boasting an amazing wingspan to go with his 6’6 frame allows him to block out the sun for rush ends. Frazier currently holds 24 offers as a four star but is a solid commit to the Wolverines and Michigan faithful.
RUNNING BACK •5’10” | 205 LBS / CLASS OF 2024 @ LONGVIEW | LONGVIEW, TX
Taylor Tatum Taylor Tatum 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Longview | 2024 State TX is one of the worst kept secrets in the East Texas Piney woods. This country boy is country strong and country fast. Seldom brought down by one tackler, this elusive runner knows how to run behind his pads and maintain leverage. Tatum seldom can be found on film taking the big hit which means that his durability is in good standing. Tatum constantly falls forward for extra yards and can be considered a bell cow type of runner. He holds 34 offers and is rated 5th overall at his position.
