Continue ReadingBelow are a few prospects out of the 2023 class that have yet to sign or commit to further their athletic and academic journey’s. These Seniors deserve an opportunity to play on the next level and I think that the majority of them will get that opportunity. I will be giving a brief description of their skill-set’s as individual players followed by their stats from this past year. I will also include these prospects’ Hudl link and twitter names. Good luck to all of the unsigned recruits from the 2023 class!
Nick Thompson Nick Thompson 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Jefferson Davis | 2023 State MS | 5’8 190 | Jefferson-Davis County | https://www.hudl.com/profile/12833797/Nick-Thompson | @nick4mvp
Nick Thompson Nick Thompson 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Jefferson Davis | 2023 State MS is a polished running back out of JDC that has great vision and exceptional speed. Nick is a tough runner with a mean stiff arm that punishes tacklers any chance he gets. Thompson has exceptional athleticism. He gets in and out of his cuts in a hurry, and once he sticks his foot in the ground for a footrace, Nick often comes out on the winning side with that deceptive speed. His compact build allows him to have a side of his game that emulates a power back. Thompson also has a nose for the endzone and is great in short yardage situations. This skill-set will surely and his film will surely earn Nick an opportunity here soon!
- 93 carries, 700 yards, 14 touchdowns
Treyvon Tolbert | 5’10 150 | St. Martin | https://www.hudl.com/profile/14671220/Treyvon-Tolbert | @TreyvonTolbert
Treyvon is a slightly undersized Defensive back that plays with good technique and awareness. He holds his own when coming up to assist in run support and in coverage. Treyvon doesn’t mind doing the little things and making plays that won’t necessarily always get pointed out. Treyvon has decent ball skills, and I can see Treyvon developing to a decent Corner if given the chance. He may lack a couple of the physical attributes to make it to the next level but he has the heart. Tolbert has the want to and competitive fervor to gain a spot on a roster, it all falls down to who will give him the chance.
Cliff Perry | 5’10 210 | St. Joseph | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13404602/631e8cf619b0100c2c7a8c71 | @Cliff_P13
Cliff Perry is a solidly built linebacker out of St. Joseph (Greenville) that had an impressive Senior year this past season. He has great reactionary movements and his instincts assist him when he’s swarming around on defense. Cliff is a play making linebacker that reads well and finds several ways to contribute to a defense. Perry loves contact and he is a sure tackler that takes any opportunity to make ball carriers feel all 200+ pounds he brings with him. He is a hunter of the football that excels when sent on blitz assignments to apply pressure to the Quarterback. Cliff is no coverage linebacker but he holds his own when put into those situations. Overall Cliff Perry is a smart, disciplined, and advantageous Linebacker deserving of a shot, and he will get it here soon!
- Career: 196 tckls, 5 sacks
Waylon Tullos | 6’2 200 | Stringer | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16214906/61893402b53f18093469b896 | @TullosWaylon
Waylon Tullos is a smart and tough prospect that is decisive in his reads. Waylon was able to show off some arm talents in a run happy offense in his previous two seasons as a starter, He is a dual threat Quarterback that has displayed grit as a runner and respectable arm strength as a passer. Tullos takes what the defense gives him and doesn’t force any throws. Waylon has a nice touch on his deep and intermediate throws as well. On the next level he could be a valuable asset to a roster as a back up Quarterback or maybe a TE/HB.
- 53/119, 822 passing yds,15 touchdowns, 660 rushing yds
Carter Lundquist Carter Lundquist 6'3" | 200 lbs | DL Amory | 2023 State MS | 6’3 200 | Amory | https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15888572/6391fa772347be09e0866654 | @Carterlundquis1
This All-State Defensive End and is a technically sound defender somehow slipped through the cracks, his name is Carter Lundquist Carter Lundquist 6'3" | 200 lbs | DL Amory | 2023 State MS . Carter is a long and lanky edge defender with long arms, a good get off, and sneaky athleticism. He has a natural nose for the football, and Carter made some big plays for that stout Amory Defense all year long. At 6’3, he bends well and shows athleticism when moving around in tight spaces. He can play with his hands in the dirt or standing up coming off of the edge. Lundquist simply knows his position and understands how to hunt the football. Carter effectively uses his hands to shed offensive linemen in the run game, and he is adept at hand fighting as a rusher. He has a few pass deflections as well last year. This kid will fill out and become a respectable threat off of the edge on the next level if given the chance!
