20. John David LaFleur John David LaFleur 6'6" | 240 lbs | TE Sulphur | 2025 State LA | 6-6, 240 TE | Sulphur
The big tight end, the son of former LSU and Dallas Cowboys tight end David LaFleur, was one of the first prospects on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s initial rankings for the class and remains in the top 20 as the class continues to fill out. The younger LaFleur is the tallest of the approximately 200 prospects evaluated thus far in the state’s 2025 cohort with a strong frame, good bend and the athleticism for Sulphur to line him up all over its formations, including split out in space.
19. Joshua Brantley Joshua Brantley 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Ruston | 2025 State LA | 6-4, 200 QB | Ruston
The promising young passer debuts as the new top quarterback in the class with high expectations as he takes the reins of the state runner-up Bearcats’ offense. Brantley has a tall, athletic frame with 4.5- or 4.6-second speed and a strong arm and quick release that seem to zip the ball to anywhere on the field with a flick. Ruston is expected to again be among the top contenders in its division due in no small part to confidence in Brantley proving effective as he takes the reins from graduating senior Jaden Osborne.
18. Alec Haynes Alec Haynes 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB University Lab | 2025 State LA | 6-2, 210 LB | University Lab
A lot of the attention in U-High’s defensive front seven has understandably focused on 2023 star Jaiden Ausberry Jaiden Ausberry 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB University Lab | 2023 State LA , who signed with Notre Dame this winter, and 2025 star Keylan Moses Keylan Moses 6'2" | 215 lbs | ATH University Lab | 2025 State LA , who has followed older brother Dylan’s path as the headliner of his class before even beginning high school. But Haynes has developed into an explosive and relentless pass-rusher in his own right with the combination of strength and speed in his solid frame to line up anywhere in the defensive front seven and create problems for opposing passers and rushers. And he’s working heavily this offseason in training and 7-on-7 to continue to round out his game with improved coverage.
17. Diesel Solari Diesel Solari 5'7" | 175 lbs | ATH Cecilia | 2025 State LA | 5-6, 160 ATH | Cecilia
The explosive Cecilia standout has been a Prep Redzone Louisiana favorite from the early watch lists for the 2025 class and a No. 7 ranking last offseason. And his dynamic playmaking ability was on display in all three phases early his sophomore season before an ACL injury presented a setback in late September. Those circumstances and the emergence and development of other prospects in the class are the only reasons for the slight step-back on this list. But Solari is hungry and working hard to return to form for this season — which is an athlete with special quickness to make defenders miss even in the tightest quarters and burst upfield in a flash when he gets a lane and accelerates.
16. Tyron Winslow Tyron Winslow 6'4" | 275 lbs | DL H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 State LA | 6-5, 265 DL | H.L. Bourgeois
Defensive back Riley Verdin Riley Verdin 5'10" | 155 lbs | DB H.L. Bourgeois | 2025 State LA , at No. 22, was introduced Friday as the first of two underrated H.L. Bourgeois teammates on this countdown, and Winslow is the second. The big-bodied defensive lineman has shown the quickness and versatility to play inside or out, consistently slipping into the backfield to make disruptive plays and the strength to stand up opposing blockers and to stop running backs in their tracks if he gets just a hand on them trying to break through a running lane. And indications from the Bayou are that Winslow is off to a hard-working and productive start to his offseason with expectations for a big 2023 overall.
15. Devin Harper Devin Harper 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Calvary Baptist | 2025 State LA | 6-5, 295 OL | Captain Shreve
The big left tackle for the Gators has exploded the past two months with offers from Mississippi State, Tulane, ULM, Grambling State, Louisiana Tech, Texas Tech, Florida State and Ole Miss and interest from LSU and several others to become one of Louisiana’s two most heavily recruited offensive linemen in his class early on. The size speaks for itself, and Harper moves well at nearly 300 pounds and has an aggressiveness and tenacity to his blocking that pops off the film.
14. Carmaro Mayo Carmaro Mayo 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Parkway | 2025 State LA | 5-10, 160 DB | Parkway
One of Prep Redzone Louisiana’s early favorites in the 2025 class on initial watch lists following his eighth-grade year, Mayo remains a top-15 prospect in the latest update and one of the top few defensive backs in the cohort. The Panthers’ young standout is a rangy, fluid athlete who enjoys playing press-man with his long arms and aggressive on-field nature. Parkway lets Mayo lock down his side off the field out on the perimeter in the bulk of his snaps, but he has shown the mentality and versatility to play all over the secondary and may end up a more likely nickel or safety at the next level depending on his development during the next few years.
13. Phillip Wright III Phillip Wright III 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Destrehan | 2025 State LA | 6-0, 160 WR | Destrehan
The long, lean weapon garnered early recruiting attention with his elite track speed that makes him dangerous vertically, on screens or sweeps or in the return game. But a sophomore season under his belt since Prep Redzone Louisiana’s most recent 2025 update, and Wright is pushing 6-feet with seemingly more growth ahead, a frame that looks like he do well continuing to add muscle and a more polished and well-rounded game under the Wildcats’ coaching staff and against the program’s high-level of receiver and defensive back competition.
12. Brody Whatley Brody Whatley 6'5" | 250 lbs | DL Neville | 2025 State LA | 6-4, 240 DL | Neville
The sophomore would’ve fit in well with Louisiana’s strong 2023 crop of edge rushers with his impressive explosiveness at the snap out of two-, three- and four-point stances and quickness around and strength through blockers. And Whatley has another two years of continued development of his body and technique before heading to the college level. Baylor and Tulane have kicked off his recruitment with early offers. And this offseason and junior season should be interesting to watch his work and eventual performance with the Tigers’ senior star Matthew Fobbs-White Matthew Fobbs-White 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Neville | 2023 State LA now off to begin his college career with the Green Wave.
11. Brett Bordelon Brett Bordelon 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Isidore Newman | 2025 State LA | 6-5, 265 OL | Isidore Newman
The younger brother of 2022 LSU signee Bo Bordelon continues to look like the top prospect in Louisiana’s 2025 class after a strong sophomore campaign protecting top prospect Arch Manning Arch Manning 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Newman | 2023 State LA and helping enable the Texas signee’s record-setting passing performances. Brett, himself an early LSU commitment, has great size, quickness to the outside, to the second level or pulling across the formation and the versatility to play multiple positions along the line.
