Continue ReadingJones is a highly productive back who’s shown that he can carry the load. Shows solid knee bend and a low pad level. Runs with patience and shows impressive burst when a hole opens. Has clean footwork behind the line of scrimmage and shows impressive suddenness to make defenders miss when he gets into space. Works well in congestion. Shows some ability to pinball off of contact and pick up additional yardage. Runs with determination and strong leg drive, doing a better job of pushing the pile than anticipated.
LaDue is a solid athlete who’s fast enough to outrun defenders to the edge, and has good burst/acceleration to hit the hole. Patient player who lets things develop and makes good decisions. Works well through congestion. Makes pretty sharp cuts when stretching the defense laterally. Nice vision and footwork to recognize and hit cutback lanes. Elusive runner in the hole to make defenders miss one-on-one.
Highlights
Lee has quick feet and makes clean cuts in the backfield. Makes solid decisions, showing good vision and patience. Possesses good burst in the hole and wastes little time hitting the line when the blocking is there. Smooth accelerator on outside rushing attempts, with above-average top-end speed. Very flexible, elusive player in space; difficult to bring down in one-on-one situations when he gets to the outside/second level, making sharp cuts and showing impressive stop/start skills.
Highlights
Mayernick footwork is adequate to shuffle into lanes when running downhill; occasionally able to sidestep penetration and salvage plays. Gets up to speed relatively quickly and runs behind his pads. Powerful enough to run though arm tackles once he gets going. Finishes runs and exacts a price from defenders who tackle him. Vision in space is surprisingly good for a player with his body type, showing some ability to weave through second-level defenders.
McCoy is a smooth accelerator who gets upfield quickly, minimizing negative-yardage runs. McCoy is sufficient to get to the outside on off-tackle runs and sweeps. Good eyes to recognize cutback opportunities off of stretch plays, with at least adequate footwork and good quickness to maneuver into lanes. Navigates well through congestion. Can make second-level defenders miss in space. Fights for additional yardage after contact and generally falls forward at the end of runs, pinballing forward off of contact.
