These 5 players may be the most impressive representation of their position thus far in the Spotlight Series. Each one of these players is elite. Don’t be surprised if you hear all of their names on Saturday afternoons come fall 2024.
Jordan Thomas Jordan Thomas 6’6″ | 265 lbs | DL Don Bosco | 2024 State NJ is a disruptor of offenses. I encourage you to watch his junior year highlights below. Not only is he capable of throwing offensive linemen around, but he can proceed to run the ball carrier down from behind. That is elite strength and speed for a man of his size. Jordan’s talent has not gone unnoticed, as he is highly recruited by mutliple programs across the nation.
Elijah Kinsler Elijah Kinsler 6’4″ | 250 lbs | DL Bergen Catholic | 2024 State NJ is a speedster. He was able to find the quarterback 5.5 times in 2022, and accumulated a total of 47 tackles, 11.5 of them for a loss. Elijah has a great ability to shed the blocker. He also has an incredibly long reach, and uses every inch of it to extend himself away from potential blockers. There are big things coming from Elijah and his team in 2023.
Lamont Lester Lamont Lester 6’2″ | 240 lbs | LB Don Bosco | 2024 State NJ . is the second Don Bosco Prep product to make this Spotlight Series. As much as I want to spread the exposure across the entire state, it’s hard to pass up on a player of Lamont’s caliber. Playing outside linebacker and defensive end, I see him playing multiple roles when he gets to the next level. Lamont has amazing quickness off the ball, he’s aggressive, and he attacks the ball carrier. This man will run sideline to sideline with the best of them.
Highlights
Another athlete with incredible quickness, Brahim Wynn will make a great addition to whichever college program gets his talent. This man flew around the field. He racked up 13.5 sacks as a junior; that is pure dominance. He sets himself apart as being one of the fastest players on the field. That is saying something for a player that can be found lining up in the three point stance.
Cosmo Fusco Cosmo Fusco 6’4″ | 245 lbs | DL Mountain Lakes | 2024 NJ wraps up this series, and what a great player to do so. One of the bigger bodies on this list, he shadowed over his opponents in 2022. He is every offensive coordinator’s worst nightmare; blowing up any offensive plan they had going into the game. Lastly, don’t be under the illusion that his size will slow him down, there are multiple examples of this man chasing down running backs half his size. I’m looking forward to seeing him play live in 2023.
