With some schools beginning to reach out to some of the upcoming stars in the game, it’s important to know about kids that are about to break the internet. The Class of 2027 is loaded with TONS of undiscovered talent around the country and here are some athletes that you need to know about now.
There are 11 opportunities to compete against some of these guys and other top 2027 & 2028 prospects this spring at our PRZ Next Rising Prospect camps. Do yourself a favor and get signed up for one. The talent that comes out never disappoints. Here are the dates/locations.
Offensive linemen are always one of the top needs for college football programs around the country, and Calvin Moala Calvin Moala 6’1″ | 280 lbs | OL Etiwanda | 2027 State CA appears to have the potential to be one of those athletes who can make an impact in the trenches. The 6’1, 270-pound California trench warrior is one of the more versatile guys up front that we’ve seen. Calvin is a wide-framed offensive lineman who moves well for his size. With him being a kid who always keeps his feet churning after contact, Calvin does a very good job of getting movement in the run game. Calvin also moves pretty well and can perform a variety of different styles of pulls, to clear out running lanes for the ball carrier behind him. Throughout his pre-high school career he has played both Guard and Tackle, but he looks more at home on the interior in our opinion. He’ll be a fun one to watch develop at Mesa Murrieta High School.
Calvin Williams Calvin Williams 6’7″ | 240 lbs | DL Hephzibah | 2028 GA is quite literally a big defensive end that fans of high school and college football in Georgia need to know about in this class of 2027. The Peach State product stands at a whopping 6’6 and weighs 232 pounds with a ton of length and a very high ceiling. Calvin is a force off the end, who produces big plays at a high clip. Calvin has a strong burst off the ball, which creates almost immediate pressure in the backfield with his size. Calvin can also cover a ton of ground when he is on the run with his stride. Williams has shown the ability to chase down scrambling quarterback’s and force a bad throw with pressure. Calvin already has the size to land at a big-time school down the road and appears to be taking steps to get there. Like most big men early, he needs to continue to work on speed and overall quickness. If he can build muscle on his impressive frame, add some speed and quickness, he could turn into the most dominant force in the defensive trenches in the class of 2027.
Oscar Frye Oscar Frye 6’1″ | 165 lbs | QB Brownsburg | 2027 State IN is dominant quarterback who can produce big plays with his big arm–and he’s been doing it for years. The 6’1 Hooiser State quarterback is one of the more accurate signal callers I have had a chance to evaluate and the proof is in his career up until this point. All he did over the last two seasons was lead Brownsburg East to back-t0-back championships in Indiana, playing the feeder programs for some of the state’s most recognizable teams. The winning/clutch gene is in Frye’s DNA, has his grandfather John Ritter was a captain on the Indiana Men’s Basketball team under legendary coach Bob Knight. He has strong poise in the pocket and puts great trust in the protection in front of him. Oscar does really well anticipating routes and placing the ball in a position for his receivers to make plays after the catch. Oscar also moves really well around the pocket and out of the pocket. Whenever he moves out of the pocket, Frye is one of the best at keeping his eyes down field and hitting his targets at a high clip. The future is very bright for this prospect with a very live arm.
Highlights
Jayden Calicut is a promising running back coming out of the state of Missouri. The Show Me state back has shown that he can dominate whenever he has the ball in his hands with a well-balanced running style. Jayden is a strong runner who has the balance to blow through tacklers as he makes his way downfield, but is also fast enough to run away from them. He’s quick to pick a running lane and gets downfield with a full head of steam. At his top speed, Jayden is almost impossible to catch. The big play machine that Jayden has shown proves that he can be a workhorse for any offensive system that he works in. After seeing him live this past December and watching subsequent film of his season, Calicut is a kid worth keeping an eye on as he gets set to enter high school.
Chaz Morris Chaz Morris 6’3″ | 290 lbs | DL VA is one of the most dominant two-way players in the trenches that I have had a chance to watch out of this class. The Virginia prospect has shown to play on both sides of the ball with elite success and recently picked up his third offer from the University of Buffalo. On the offensive side of the ball, Chaz proves to move well for his 6’3, 285-pound size and has made a habit out of finishing blocks on defensive linemen across from him. Chaz also does a great job driving through defenders as his feet never stop moving. Another thing that impresses me about Chaz is that he always seems to get his hands inside his opponents at the point of contact. Defensively much of those standout traits are prevalent too. He’s a naturally strong prospect with fairly good technique despite having so much untapped potential. With the physicality that Morris brings to the table and the youth program (757 Colts) he played for, it should be no surprise that he has already collected a couple of Power 5 offers so early on in his career. If he keeps this up, he is going to be on many more recruiting boards across the country.
Tyler Hatton Tyler Hatton 6’4″ | 235 lbs | DL West Allegheny | 2027 State PA is a big dude with a ton of upside, standing 6’3 and 205-pounds. The Keystone State defensive end/tight end has the size and speed to be an impact player whenever he is on the football field. Tyler is incredibly fast off the ball and has no problem finding his way into the backfield. Tyler is very strong in reading and reacting to plays as they happen in front of him. With that, Tyler also has the speed to close the gap between him and the ball carrier whenever he is in pursuit. Tyler is a devastating tackler who can make plays anywhere on the field. Offensively, he’s a big kid that can act as a safety valve for his Quarterbacks. Creates a nice-sized catching radius with his length and is strong/tough enough to go across the middle in the short/intermediate passing game. From what I have seen from him, it is obvious that he can make it a long day for his opponents on the football field. With his size and ability, playing in the talent-rich area of western Pennsylvania, there should be ample opportunity for college coaches to see him early and often over the next four years.
