The 2024 rankings were released earlier this week and we saw movement at several positions. Here we are going to break down the top 5 running backs in the 2024 class.
Sebastien Boyle Sebastien Boyle 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Scottsbluff | 2024 State NE | Scottsbluff | 5’11” 215 lbs
Scottsbluff RB Sebastien Boyle Sebastien Boyle 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Scottsbluff | 2024 State NE continues his hold on the RB1 spot as he turns in another monster season. In his junior year, Boyle rushed for 1,926 yards, 26 touchdowns, and averaged 177.4 yards per game. Sebastien continues to look like the most complete back in the 2024 class with his balanced rushing attack. He isn’t a super flashy back that is going to do a ton of moves, acting more as a punisher in between the tackles that can absorb and dish out contact with his big 215-pound frame. He has excellent balance stemming from his powerful lower body that keeps him fighting for extra yardage while still managing to fall forward. Sebastien isn’t just a power back though as he possesses 4.5 speed and can turn it on at a moment’s notice. His vision is another big part of his game with his ability to see and anticipate running lanes. Overall, Sebastien’s consistency, production, and versatile running style have earned him the top RB spot.
Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | Papillion-La Vista | 5’10” 185 lbs
The Monarch’s running back Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE might be one of the more overlooked prospects in the 2024 class. Payton built on his promising sophomore season with a breakout junior season as he rushed for 1,178 yards, 10 touchdowns, and averaged 117 yards per game. Prestito has great twitch and can use his quick feet and sharp cuts to shake off defenders. He is a threat to break off a big gain if you let him gain the edge with great acceleration when he hits the second level. He generates a lot of power from his lower body whether it’s to plant his foot and cut or to help keep him upright when fighting defenders. Payton was also a standout on defense where he racked up 65 tackles as a linebacker. Impressive player that you should buy stock in now!
Jahmez Ross Jahmez Ross 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE | Omaha Westside | 5’10” 190 lbs
The Warrior’s 2024 class has great talent at every position including running back where Jahmez Ross Jahmez Ross 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE has continued to impress. Jahmez is a well-rounded back that can run downhill, use his speed, and be a threat as a receiving back. He finished the season with 687 rushing yards on 144 carries and 10 touchdowns while adding 13 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Ross sees the field very well and has the quickness to make cuts and jukes in a flash. He plays with consistent pad level and low center of gravity. Jahmez is a player that you can pass to in open space and let him cook defenders with his quick twitch. Very high ceiling!
Parker Borer Parker Borer 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Boone Central | 2024 State NE | Boone Central | 5’10” 180 lbs
One player that teams need to add to their radars is Boone Central’s, Parker Borer Parker Borer 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Boone Central | 2024 State NE . Parker is one of the most versatile backs in the state with his shifty running, receiving skills, returning ability, and can also play defense. In his junior season, Parker rushed for 1,245 yards on 172 carries and scored 20 touchdowns. He is a player that can drive defenses crazy with his elusiveness. He can beat you to the edge and then just crank on the burners when he sees the open field. Borer’s eyes are as quick as his feet as he can find open lanes and make quick cuts without losing speed. Parker also hauled in 17 receptions for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns, returned a kickoff for a touchdown, racked up 31 tackles, 3 interceptions, and returned two of them for touchdowns… PLAYMAKER!! Don’t sleep!
Luke Holly Luke Holly 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Sidney | 2024 State NE | Sidney | 6’1″ 195 lbs
Luke is a player that jumped onto my radar during the season with consistent play week after week. Now that I have some tape to watch, I can see why he was such a handful for defenses. Luke rushed 161 times for 1,005 yards and 11 touchdowns, he also added 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He is a taller back with a long stride and excellent burst when he hits the open field. Luke’s bigger frame makes him a handful to tackle, especially when he does a great job pumping his knees and keeps his pads nice and low. Even as a bigger back, Luke has surprising shiftiness to his game and can dip into his bag to evade tackles. Great overall athlete that could rise quickly in the upcoming months. I look forward to seeing more from Luke this offseason!
