2022 Season Result: 4A State Semi-Final
Review:
Minico is one of the premier programs in the 4A ranks the last two seasons especially. The Spartans have been one of the toughest teams to beat in the state year in and year out regardless of record. What is special about this Spartan team is the senior class that is leaving behind a legacy of winning that will be hard to match. With this special group of seniors in their ranks they were able to make the playoffs the last two years with high seeds and made the semi-final game this season running into the buzz saw that was Bishop Kelly. Using an absolute monster in the back field the Spartans were able to lean on their senior running back and experienced offensive line to run around and over the top of teams they played this season. With a young signal caller at the helm they have pieces that are coming back to help him in his senior season. On the defensive side the of the ball Minico has some young stars waiting in the wings on the defensive line that were able to really hold up the opposing offensive lines. Their linebacking core might be the most impressive in all of the 4A ranks. These young men were able to do it all for the Spartans, making tackles everywhere along with causing turnovers and setting the tone for the entire team. In the back end they were able to get timely stops and make it hard to throw the football. With their head coach off to the 5A ranks it will be up to the next coach in line to hold the standard that these seniors left but the outlook of the Spartan program is strong with a ton of talent returning next season. They will still be a team to be reckoned with.
