Marist should be tough to beat this coming season with dudes on both sides of the ball. We’ve already talked on top O lineman Sam Keen Sam Keen 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Springfield | 2024 State OR who also earned 2nd team all-state honors defensively. Teammate Aiden Hazen Aiden Hazen 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Marist | 2024 State OR will be a 4A defensive POY favorite heading into next season, after being the only underclassmen in Oregon to earn 1st team all-state accolades in 2022. The talented overall athlete made 88 total tackles with 5 tackles for loss last year.
Two current sophomores who will get in the mix and play a crucial role for the Spartans as well are Brody Borrevik Brody Borrevik 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Sheldon | 2025 State OR and Dawson Reiling. Marist will be one of the few teams at the 4A classification level with a legit line on both sides of the football. The 6-1 225-pound Borrevik is a tear coming off the edge and will project as a 1st team all-state guy next season. The 6-2 220-pound Reiling will play on both sides of the ball.
Warren Haatia was a 2nd team all-state selection for the Indians last year and a big reason for their playoff run and upset of #1 Mazama. His 114 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks as a junior speaks to his game.
Two teams with multiple all state projected kids returning include Stayton and Cascade. The Eagles out of Stayton have two super talented sophomores coming back in Kale Hubert and Tanner Starbuck Tanner Starbuck 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Stayton | 2025 State OR at DB. Hubert was an honorable mention all-state selection from his LB spot, making 76 total tackles with 3 tackles for loss. Starbuck is a versatile two-way threat who picked off 4 passes, while making 72 tackles on the year.
Cascade could have one of the top line recruits statewide regardless of classification in current Freshman Bryce May. The 6-3 310-pounder has promising genes and the potential to be the real deal. Teammate Karsten Sande earned all-state honors at DB as a junior.
Two other intriguing athletes with size return after earning all-state honors in the secondary. We’ve already talked on Tyson Van Gastel (6-3 210) of Mazama, who was one of the only underclassmen in Oregon to earn all state accolades offensively & defensively. Expect 6-4 200-pound athlete Eddie Freauff out of Crook County to make a nice jump up the rankings board as well.
2nd team all-state RB Logan Whitlock is also one of the top LBs in the state, while only being listed at 5-9 175. Last but not least don’t sleep on Marshfield sophomore DE Lucas Folau Lucas Folau 6'3" | 245 lbs | DL Marshfield | 2025 State OR . He was one of the top d lineman in Oregon last year, making 51 total tackles, with 15 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 17 hurries.
