Nebraska athletes have had a tremendous start to the year with several prospects receiving their first offers. There are players from Class A Elkhorn South to Class D2 Dundy County-Stratton and from 2024s gearing up for their senior year to a 2027 prospect wrapping up middle school. Check out which Nebraska players have picked up their first offers (and more) since the start of the year.
Ashton Murphy Ashton Murphy 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Elkhorn South | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL/DL | Elkhorn South | 6’5″ 240 lbs
One of the biggest risers early in the year is Elkhorn South big man Ashton Murphy Ashton Murphy 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Elkhorn South | 2024 State NE . Ashton played on both the offensive and defensive line for the Storm and ended the season with 32 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. Murphy’s rise began after his performance at the Warren Academy Top Prospects showcase. Ashton put together a great showing at the showcase displaying his athleticism, explosiveness, and versatility on both lines, earning him his first offer from Northern Iowa. As it seems to go, after this first offer several soon followed. Since then Ashton has received offers from Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Air Force, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, and Navy.
Tanner Hollinger Tanner Hollinger 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Cross County | 2024 State NE | 2024 | TE | Cross County | 6’5″ 220 lbs
Tall, athletic tight ends have been really popular on the recruiting circuit so far. One of them is Cross County’s Tanner Hollinger Tanner Hollinger 6'6" | 235 lbs | TE Cross County | 2024 State NE who has received three D1 offers in this month already. Southeast Missouri State started things off by offering the Cougar’s tight end which was followed by South Dakota and South Dakota State. Things should continue to pick up as the offseason continues heating up.
Sam Thomas Sam Thomas 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE | 2024 | DL/OL | Elkorn North | 6’5″ 265 lbs
Another big winner from the WA Showcase was Elkhorn North DL/OL Sam Thomas Sam Thomas 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE . Sam is a tall, lengthy, strong player who had a great junior season in the trenches for the Wolves. He finished the year with 32 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and defended four passes on the DL. Sam’s first offer came from Northern Iowa and with that, it brought a lot more interest from other schools.
Teddy Rezac Teddy Rezac 6'3" | 195 lbs | ATH Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE | 2024 | LB/ATH | Omaha Westside | 6’3″ 190 lbs
Both Rezac brothers got on the board with their first offers coming in February. Linebacker/ATH Teddy was the first to pick up a bid with an offer from Northern Iowa. The UNI offer was followed by NDSU, SDSU, Air Force, and Colorado State also putting in their bids. Teddy shined as a two-way star for the Warriors and ended his junior season with 32 receptions, 414 receiving yards, 4 touchdowns, 62 total tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a sack.
Jacob Arop Jacob Arop 6'6" | 250 lbs | OL Bellevue West | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Northern Iowa | 6’6″ 250 lbs
Jacob was already making a name for himself among the basketball community before emerging as the starting left tackle for Bellevue West. After ironing out some wrinkles, Jacob put together a great season and showed everyone that he has huge upside on the gridiron as well. Northern Iowa was the first to jump on this upside and offered the rising tackle earlier this month. With basketball season nearing its end, I’m looking forward to seeing Jacob compete this summer.
Ben Gustafson Ben Gustafson 6'7" | 275 lbs | OL Elkhorn South | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Elkhorn South | 6’8″ 255 lbs
The Elkhorn South big men have been getting a lot of attention so far this year. Offensive tackle was the second Storm lineman to receive a division 1 offer. Gustafson received his first offer from South Dakota State followed by a Northern Illinois offer.
Cooper Johnson Cooper Johnson 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Lincoln Southeast | 6’6″ 290 lbs
The Lincoln Southeast OL pipeline looks to continue strong with another D1-level prospect in Cooper Johnson Cooper Johnson 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE . Cooper will be a bookend tackle in his senior season as the Knights look to get make a run in the playoffs. As the trend has been going so far, Northern Iowa was the first team to make a bid for Johnson’s services.
Dash Bauman Dash Bauman 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Lincoln East | 2024 State NE | 2024 | LB | Lincoln East | 6’3″ 200 lbs
Lincoln East LB Dash Bauman Dash Bauman 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Lincoln East | 2024 State NE has been making a name for himself since his great sophomore season. As a junior he continued to dominate with 77 tackles, a tackle for loss, and an interception. Dash is a rangy ‘backer with sideline-to-sideline coverage and great instincts. Air Force was the first team to offer the Spartan linebacker. Shortly after, Bauman received a 3-star rating. Things are looking up for Dash!
Anthony Rezac Anthony Rezac 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE | 2024 | QB | Omaha Westside | 6’3 195 lbs
The Rezac Bros went 2/2 in the month of February when QB Anthony Rezac Anthony Rezac 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE picked up his first offer. Anthony and the Warriors are coming off of their Class A championship season in which Anthony was the only QB in 11-man to throw for 2,000 and rush for 1,000. He ended the season with 2,239 passing yards, 19 passing touchdowns, 67% completion, 1,118 rushing yards, and 19 rushing touchdowns. Anthony received his first D1 offer from the Air Force Academy while also receiving a lot of D1 interest from other schools.
Caden Cetak Caden Cetak 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Lincoln East | 2024 State NE | 2024 | DL | Lincoln East | 6’4″ 220 lbs
Lincoln East has another defender that has been making noise on the recruiting circuit. Defensive end Caden Cetak Caden Cetak 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Lincoln East | 2024 State NE was a player that made a huge jump from his sophomore to junior year. Caden racked up 43 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 6 defended passes. The explosive pass rusher received his first offer from Air Force Academy. Expect more to follow!
Michael Burt Michael Burt 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Creighton Prep | 2024 State NE | 2024 | TE | Creighton Prep | 6’6″ 230 lbs
The Jr. Jays have produced a lot of great talent in their deep history and one player that is soon to be added to that list is TE Michael Burt Michael Burt 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Creighton Prep | 2024 State NE . Burt established himself as a reliable pass catcher and tough blocker in his junior season. Burt hauled in 13 receptions for 173 yards and hauled in a touchdown. The Northern Illinois Huskies is the first team to extend an offer to the rising tight end.
Eric Ingwerson Eric Ingwerson 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | 2024 | TE | Papillion La Vista | 6’7″ 240 lbs
Papillion-La Vista’s 6’7″ TE/ATH Eric Ingwerson Eric Ingwerson 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE received his first offer from D1-FCS school Northern Iowa. Eric has been a player that has continued to develop and show his true potential. It is still unclear on what side of the ball teams will want him on, though Tight End looks most likely, he shows tons of upside on either side.
Jackson Carpenter Jackson Carpenter 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Southwest | 2025 State NE | 2025 | WR | Lincoln Southwest | 6’2″ 185 lbs
Here’s a 2025 prospect getting their name out there early! Lincoln Southwest pass catcher Jackson Carpenter Jackson Carpenter 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Southwest | 2025 State NE saw himself step into a bigger role in the Silver Hawk’s offense in year 2. He hauled in 14 receptions for 324 yards and four receiving touchdowns. Jackson’s first offer came from the Northern Iowa Panthers.
Harry Caskey Harry Caskey 6'4" | 220 lbs | ATH Ogallala | 2024 State NE | 2024 | ATH | Ogallala | 6’4″ 200 lbs
One of the great overall athletes in the 2024 class, Harry Caskey Harry Caskey 6'4" | 220 lbs | ATH Ogallala | 2024 State NE is a player primed for a big offseason. Harry is a flat-out football guy that finished his season with 618 passing yards, 797 rushing yards, 257 receiving yards, and 17 total touchdowns. After watching Harry perform at the Warren Academy Showcase, I knew it was only a matter of time before a program came knocking. Harry received his first offer from the Air Force Academy with many schools looking to get Caskey down to their campus.
Dylan Sheard Dylan Sheard 6'2" | 240 lbs | LB Bellevue West | 2024 State NE | 2024 | ATH | Omaha South | 6’2″ 215 lbs
Dylan had a monster breakout season in his junior year. Dylan had 50 catches for 1,105 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns with an additional 226 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Sheard’s first offer came after a successful visit to Wayne State. With an offer from the reigning NSIC champs, Dylan enters the spring/summer circuit with great momentum.
Jax Gates Jax Gates 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Norris | 2024 State NE | 2024 | WR/ATH | Norris | 6’1″ 180 lbs
Jax is another player that left his Wayne State visit happy, with an offer from the Wildcats. Jax is an up-and-coming player that is ready to make a jump for the Norris Titans in 2023. Gates had an impact on both sides of the 15 receptions, 213 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns, 37 tackles, an interception, and three pass break ups. Winona State, Augustana, South Dakota, NSU, and more are also showing interest.
Jayden Potter Jayden Potter 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL Lincoln North Star | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Lincoln North Star | 6’6″ 290 lbs
The 2024 OL class is shaping up to be a great group with several lineman already holding offers. One of them is North Star’s Jayden Potter Jayden Potter 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL Lincoln North Star | 2024 State NE who quietly had an outstanding season at tackle and has been opening eyes this offseason. Potter picked up his first offer from the reigning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champions, the Wayne State Wildcats! Other schools keeping tabs on the North Star blocker are South Dakota, Sioux Falls, Augustana, and many more.
Tyler Thaden Tyler Thaden 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Millard West | 2024 State NE | 2024 | OL | Millard West | 6’5″ 270 lbs
One of the key returning players for the Millard West Wildcats will be offensive tackle, Tyler Thaden Tyler Thaden 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Millard West | 2024 State NE . Tyler is a powerful, tall tackle with massive potential to be a highly touted prospect. He received his first offer on a visit to Wayne State and has continued to gain interest since.
Jackson Kerchal Jackson Kerchal 6'4" | 210 lbs | DL Dundy County Stratton | 2024 State NE | 2024 | DL | Dundy County Stratton | 6’4″ 210 lbs
A small-town prospect with big-time game! DCS defensive end Jackson Kerchal Jackson Kerchal 6'4" | 210 lbs | DL Dundy County Stratton | 2024 State NE has emerged as a beast for the Tigers. He is a strong, physical player that can dominate at the line of scrimmage. Jackson’s first offer came from in-state program, Chadron State. He is receiving interest from FCS schools to D2 schools with a few invites coming his way. He will be a player to keep an eye out for at camps.
Tory Pittman | 2027 | WR/DB | Buffet Middle School (plans on playing at Omaha Central)
One of the earliest offers I’ve seen in a while, 2027 ATH Tory Pittman got on the board early. Pittman is a WR/DB that plays for Buffet Middle school and with NELITE 7v7. He impressed Nebraska coaches enough at the Homegrown Program practice and earned himself a Husker offer. Can’t wait to see what Tory does on a varsity field.
