Anthony Cartwright, WR, South Hill Christian
I became an instant fan of this young man. He was showing off how bright his future is today. He is a smooth receiver who knows how to use his big body. Cartwright played 14u today, but he normally starts with their organization’s 15u team. He goes up and gets the football with ease. Cartwright also knows how to get open. He finds the open space when he recognizes zone. Cartwright knows how to turn into a post player when he recognized man coverage. Keep your ears open for his name.
Kingston McCrary, Stewarts Creek, WR, 2027
McCrary is a tall lanky receiver who knows how to go up for the rock. He gives a quarterback a lot of room to complete passes. He has some long arms that go out and snatch the football out of the air. McCrary also knows how to go use his body to his advantage. McCrary has a nice release from the line for such a lanky guy. He gets back on line of his route when he is pressed. I don’t know if that is natural or trained, but that is a good trait for him to have. I’ll be keeping up with this kid.
Colin Craver, Clay Chalkville, WR, 2027
Craver is a big time playmaker for his squad. He gets the job done on both sides of the football. Craver is very crafty with his route running tree. There weren’t many cornerbacks who could keep Craver in front of them. He is very elusive when he is making his move to get open. Craver also has good ball skills. He definitely is going to be a guy to know.
Stewie Averett, WR
Averett is a speedy guy who has it. He is a smaller guy that plays with a lot of heart. He isn’t the biggest guy on the field, but he steps up to all competition. Today he took a five yard crossing route to the house for a touchdown. That was the whole forty yards of the 7v7 game. He has a great release from the line of scrimmage. He is a stud. Averett gets active in open space. There aren’t many guys who can stay in front of him.
Ashton Taylor Ashton Taylor 5'8" | 150 lbs | RB KY , WR, Holy Trinity
Taylor is a beat when it comes to running routes. He is going to get open when his team needs him to make a play. Taylor reminds me of Wes Welker. He doesn’t waste time becoming an open target for his quarterback. Taylor is going to be a guy to keep up with. He always steps up to the plate when his team needs him.
