Continue ReadingThe TFP Flite Boyz have gone three up and three down, winning 15U titles in three consecutive tournaments. I couldn’t distinguish The Flite Boyz from some of the more seasoned and experienced 7v7 programs at the event. Looking at the depth of talent on roster, the exemplary game plan, as well as the confident leader behind center, you start to understand how this program bested the likes of Gas Crew and Savages 7v7 alike.
I have to begin with two top performers on both sides of the ball. Two prospects who set the tone of what to expect at both wideout and DB. Those two being WR Shawn Curry Shawn Curry 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Avon | 2026 State IN and DB Tristan Johnson Tristan Johnson 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Fishers | 2025 State IN . I don’t know much about how the state of Indiana is handling the ranking of underclassmen in the state, I sure hope both of these prospects are on radar.
Shawn Curry Shawn Curry 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Avon | 2026 State IN , a 5’10 pass-catcher with a slight frame utilized his speed and quickness to seemingly be open on every set. Curry displayed a great understanding of leverage use when running routes inside of ten yards. Incredible balance in and out of his cuts. You can argue that the timing and chemistry between he and Quarterback Jace Cameron Jace Cameron 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Avon | 2026 State IN made the difference in the Flite Boyz going 6-0. Curry’s short area burst and understanding of where to be and when, provided a safety blanket for Cameron to hit time and time again. Curry is a frustrating target to lock up.
Tristan Johnson Tristan Johnson 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Fishers | 2025 State IN
Tristan Johnson Tristan Johnson 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Fishers | 2025 State IN
Tristan Johnson Tristan Johnson 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Fishers | 2025 State IN is equally frustrating to work against on the opposite side of the ball. I haven’t checked out his tape as of yet. I can imagine, from watching his skillset from a technical perspective, as well as seeing his build move in a live setting, that this young man should be a coveted prospect in his immediate region. Physical off the LOS, both when pressed pre-snap or when a WR would engage with him downfield. His build allows him to absorb contact from smaller targets and negate leverage use. Stays in phase and on the hip well when having to cover in-breaking routes. Great closing speed to attack the triangle of pass-catchers. Could have had multiple INTs on top of the number he reeled in over the two-day stretch. I’m a huge fan of his game outside of the 7v7 setting. Both Curry and Johnson will be featured in a later piece.
I am just now learning that the duo that frustrated defenses all tournament do in fact have an outside relationship. The brain behind the operation is 5’10, 2026 quarterback Jace Cameron Jace Cameron 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Avon | 2026 State IN . I prefer to dissect game tape, yet I love what I saw out of Cameron in this setting. There are two things I look for when evaluating young quarterbacks. Those two being decisiveness and confidence. After watching Cameron ball for two days in the Tennessee sun, I can vouch for the young man’s confidence to lead an offense, as well as make tight-window throws downfield. Decisive, there’s a clear pre-snap understanding of where Cameron should go with the football based on the defense presented. He can read his key defender and make the correct pass in an accurate and timely fashion. So much so that defenses had trouble breaking this young man’s confidence, said confidence built higher and higher after each win. Deadly accurate in the red zone, accurate inside of ten yards too, the kid still has the guts to test a defense vertically by giving one of his weapons a chance downfield. As good as Curry and Johnson are, the ship sailed behind this young man at QB.
Highlights
Ifeoluwa Adeoba Ifeoluwa Adeoba 6'0" | 210 lbs | DL Pike | 2025 State IN , a grown man at linebacker, picked up his first offer after Day One of our tournament. Adeoba’s skills in a 7v7 setting would have pleased Miami of Ohio, the first FBS program to pull the trigger on this 2025 DL/LB stud. FBS programs will like what Adeoba provides in full pads, yet I imagine that decision-makers at the highest level would have been pleased to see Ifeoluwa Adeoba Ifeoluwa Adeoba 6'0" | 210 lbs | DL Pike | 2025 State IN work in coverage. INTs, PBU’s, outstanding weaves into his zone, the young man out of Pike HS set the tone in the middle of the defense. A vocal presence, energy was brought to every defensive possession, undoubtedly deterring the confidence of opposing QBs. One of the better builds I saw from anby 15U prospect, Adeoba was hardly phased by wideouts attempting to work in his space. This is a phenomenal prospect with or without pads. Happy that I got a chance to meet him.
I’d be remiss to not mention Kelvin Bass Kelvin Bass 5'8" | 165 lbs | ATH Speedway | 2026 State IN , Tairiq Okocha Tairiq Okocha 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Lawrence Central | 2026 State IN , as well as Ja’Ronn Smith Ja’Ronn Smith 5'10" | 190 lbs | ATH Speedway | 2026 State IN , and TJ Stewart. All four were vital pieces to the Championship puzzle this past weekend. I can imagine all four prospects coming up big in previous tournaments as well. TFP Flite Boyz isn’t winning three consecutive tournaments without these four playing their parts.
