However, these players are the backbone of any successful offense, providing protection and paving roads for their offense to run through. In Wichita, the 4A high school football division is home to some of the best offensive linemen in the state. From impressive size and strength to nimble footwork and smart play, these players are a force to be reckoned with on the field. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at some of the top offensive linemen in 4A Wichita high school football and explore what makes them stand out from the rest.
This offensive tackle is an impressive player with a rare combination of size, strength, and intelligence. His size and strength allow him to dominate the line of scrimmage and push linebackers out of the box, creating valuable running lanes for his team. He also has excellent technique, as he keeps his shoulders square to defensive ends, making it difficult for them to get around him and pressure the quarterback. Additionally, he has a high football IQ and is able to anticipate stunts and other tricks by the defense, allowing him to adjust his positioning and block effectively. While he only played two games due to injury last season, his talent is undeniable, and he has the potential to be a dominant force on the offensive line this upcoming fall.
Highlights
Rodd is a player who relies on his good size and strength to excel on the field. He is an aggressive blocker who always keeps his feet churning until the whistle blows, allowing him to drive defenders back and create lanes for his backs. While he may not have the technique or finesse of some other offensive tackles, his physicality and aggressive approach make him a valuable asset on the line. However, he does not typically pancake defenders or showcase any real pass-blocking skills, suggesting that he may be best suited to run-blocking schemes rather than pass-heavy offenses. Overall, this player’s strength and aggressiveness make him a solid addition to any team in need of a powerful run blocker. Only going into his junior year, Rodd has the potential to be one of the best players in the state, not just the city.
Sutton is a true powerhouse on the field. Great strength and good size that make him a formidable opponent for any defensive lineman. His aggressive blocking style and quick release off the line allow him to drive defenders back and create space for the offense. He is also adept at pancaking defensive linemen, using his weight and leverage to overpower them at the line of scrimmage and push them back onto roadblocks behind them. One of his trademark moves is to crash down onto unsuspecting nose tackles, using his size and physicality to disrupt the interior. While he may not churn his legs at the second level, he is still effective with his one pop technique. His versatility is also a major asset, as he can play both guard and center on the offensive line. Overall, Sutton is a dominant force in the trenches and a valuable asset to any team.
Cooper Jay Cooper Jay 6’2″ | 315 lbs | OL Augusta | 2024 State KS is an impressive player with incredible strength and fantastic size that make him a force to be reckoned with on the field. His aggressive blocking style and ability to pancake defensive linemen with ease make him a valuable asset on the offensive line. He can create running lanes for his teammates and protect the quarterback from oncoming rushers single-handedly. Additionally, his versatility is demonstrated by his ability to make athletic plays on the punt team. While he may not have the best technique or speed to get to the second level, his physicality and power more than make up for it. He may not churn his legs, but he is still effective in creating space and overpowering defenders. Overall, Jay’s strength, size, and aggressiveness make him a valuable asset to any team looking for a dominant center on the offensive line.
Greer Buchanan
Greer Buchanan
Greer Buchanan may have very small amounts of film available, but what is available is impressive. He demonstrates exceptional power and physicality on the field, overpowering defensive tackles and pancaking them quickly. In addition, he is a force to be reckoned with when pulling, as he is able to blow up linebackers and create running lanes for his running back. His raw talent and strength are undeniable, so long as he is able to duplicate what he has given us as a taste for his junior season. His ability to create holes in the defense and overpower defenders will make him a force on any day of the week, Friday or Saturday. I have Greer as one of the most interesting prospects in the entire metro.
