Who are some of the top players in the State of Idaho? Find out here with some early candidates for Defensive Player of the Year in the 3A Ranks:
Goff had a monster junior season for Kimberley as the junor posted double digit tackles for loss among filling up the tackling stat sheet. Goff posses a really instinctual feel to the game with his ability to read and react quickly on the football field. His quick trigger is what allows him to make plays in the backfield so consistently. As a linebacker with good speed his timing is excellent as he is able to time up snap counts and create impact plays. Plays sideline to sideline with his speed and open field tackling ability is what separates him from his peers. Goff makes a ton of plays off of pure effort which shows up constantly on film. He should be primed for a huge senior season for Kimberley.

Brodie White
White might not be listed as the biggest player on the field but his effort and passion shows up constantly. Using a very quick first step and get off, he is able to beat offensive lineman consistently into his gap. Strong in his lower half he is really able to hold up at the point of attack which is key for an interior lineman. Has great pad level and is able to shed lineman quickly in order to make plays in the backfield. An anchor in the middle of the defensive line for Homedale, he shows up with flash plays. White is one of the hardest defenders to move and has a great feel for his leverage. He is going to be a monster this season and we are excited to watch him play this year.
Playing as a stand up defensive end for Sugar-Salem, Bingham has a natural feel to the game. He is long levered which allow him to create seperation at the point of attack. He shows the ability to bend and get around the edge but where he excels right now is setting the edge of the defense. As he progresses his pass rush win rate is going to improve. He has good natural speed that allows him to run players down from the back side and also stretch out run plays and finish. He shows good hand placement and will get better with his counter attacks as he moves into his senior season. He is an exciting prospect with huge upside and is going to have a monster season for the Diggers.

Harris shows up all over the field as a two way player for the Diggers but where he really shines in of the defensive side of the ball. His ability at linebacker is up there with some of the tops in the state. His ability to find the football is uncanny. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and then he finished with a violent streak. Really runs his feet on contact which means he rarely misses tackles, he good sideline to sideline speed and slips defenders easily. His ability to understand blocking schemes may stem from his time at running back but he diagnoses plays quickly and fills. He is going to have a big year as a senior and it would be a shock to see him lead the state in tackles next season.
