Continue ReadingMeredith is a receiver that plays out of the slot and is good at quick hitting plays where he can make things happen after the catch. He shows soft hands using them to make catches away from his body and can make catches in traffic. He is quick out of his breaks and he is good for throwing a stiff arm on you after turning up field. He will have a lot of opportunities this season with the system that they run to make a big splash turning some heads in the process.
Cobb is a player that has some speed and can pull away from defenders if he gets behind them. He stacks corners well when he gets past them making it hard for them to make a play. He is smooth with his route running and he is physical after he catches the ball, fighting for extra yards. He has good vision and is able to adjust to the ball quickly. At his size he is a matchup problem when they get close to the redzone being able to beat opponents with speed or posting them up with his size and out jumping them. He will be a guy to watch with his mix of height and speed, he will turn heads quickly if he is able to output his numbers from last year.
Mellish is a physical freak and will not be flying under the radar for long. He is a kid with a lot of speed and he utilizes that speed whenever he touches the ball, leaving defenders in the dust. He has good hands and vision being able to navigate and make things happen after the catch. He is a big play waiting to happen and should be one of the more explosive receivers in 4A. If he is able to build on this season, he might find his name in the category of one of the best in the state the way he jumps out on tape.
Highlights
Izaiah Phelps
Izaiah Phelps
Phelps is a shifty receiver that is quick off the line and is hard to get hands on for corners. He is a player that is able to line up at multiple positions and is a good running back as well. He is hard to bring down when he has a full head of steam and he shows good hands coming up with difficult catches at times as well. He is a player that can run the route tree but does his best work out of the slot, which is a matchup problem for safeties or backers that get stuck on him. He will be a player that is under the radar but has a chance to turn some heads his direction if he continues to put numbers up like he did last year.
Trey Abrams
Trey Abrams
Abrams is a big body receiver that shows good hands and the ability to come down with the difficult catches. Abrams isn’t afraid to put his body on the line and stretch out for some passes which will always keep you in your QB’s good graces. He is good at adjusting to the ball and he uses his height to high point the football, not giving the shorter corners the chance to knock it away. He is a receiver that is a threat around the endzone and should get plenty of chances to punch it in this season with his abilities. He should be a player on some radars this season with his size and presence down by the goal line.
