Continue ReadingThe 2024 Linebackers are our deepest position group, and these top 5 prospects exemplify everything a linebacker should be. These prospects are all incredibly decisive, aggressive, and strong, and should all be Power 5 prospects. Whether they are snuffing out running plays with bone-crushing tackles, dropping back into coverage to intercept passes, or rushing the quarterback with speed and power, these linebackers are a force to be reckoned with. Their physical prowess and innate football instincts set them apart from the competition, and make them some of the most exciting players to watch on the field.
Jeremiah Beasley Jeremiah Beasley 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Belleville | 2024 State MI | Belleville | Hudl
The accolades for Jeremiah Beasley Jeremiah Beasley 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB Belleville | 2024 State MI are incredible. He’s an all-state player, top 10 in the class, and a D1 State Champion, with extremely impressive stats against great competition. Jeremiah posted 108 tackles alongside 1,250 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. It’s all gas and no breaks for Jeremiah, as I’ve seen him play a couple of times, and this guy always goes 150%. It’s so important for a linebacker (and RB) to be quick-thinking and aggressive, and Jeremiah definitely has those traits. Looking forward to Jeremiah’s commitment in June!
Kari Jackson Kari Jackson 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI | West Bloomfield | Hudl
Kari has quickly emerged as a top linebacker in Michigan, and it’s easy to see why. This is an all-around great middle linebacker with elite strength, awareness, and hit power with great pass coverage and overall IQ. There are no obvious holes in his game, as he displays strength in run defense, pass defense, rushing the passer, and more. The only things that are potential question marks are sideline-to-sideline speed and block shedding. It’s obvious why schools like Colorado are gunning for him!
Montele Johnson Jr | West Bloomfield | Hudl
Everything I just stated about Kari I could say about Montele. This is another D1 lock at LB who is immensely decisive and aggressive. I personally love the obvious trust that these linebackers have with the coaching staff and overall scheme fit, as Montele seems to have the green light in some passing situations to rush the passer or stay back. Sideline to sideline ability is good with Montele, and his lifting numbers indicate great strength.
Carter Herriman Carter Herriman 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB Davison | 2024 State MI | Davison | Hudl
Carter has the skill to play division 1 football with one of the best competitive drives I’ve seen. His film showcases his ability, as he averaged an amazing 11 tackles per game. He’s a true nightmare to face off against, as he’s aggressive, decisive, and a very strong tackler. There wasn’t any doubt in my mind that he’s a top 20 player in this class and in my opinion, deserving of Power 5 offers.
Brady Pretzlaff Brady Pretzlaff 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Gaylord | 2024 State MI | Gaylord | Hudl
Brady is an extremely unique prospect on many levels. First off, he’s the only linebacker out of our top 15 LB prospects attending a school with less than 1000 students. Being a D3 school, Gaylord isn’t small, but it’s surely not a powerhouse or well-known program outside of Michigan HS Football fans. Brady has been a top prospect for some time now, and he expresses many of the same elite traits listed above. His eyes are always in the backfield, he’s decisive, and competitive. He also might be the strongest LB in the class, while having excellent size at 6’3.
