If you’re like me, you’re already counting down the days until those wonderful Week 0 games kickoff. Being that it’s still a ways away, I say we look at some of the returning leaders in the major statistical categories.
Here are the top 10 leaders in passing yards heading into the 2023 season.
1. Daniel Kaelin Daniel Kaelin 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Bellevue West | 2024 State NE | 2024 | Bellevue West | 6’3″ 195 lbs
Stats: 236/371 (64%), 3,186 passing yards, 36 touchdowns (7 Ints), and 115 QBR.
– Led the state in passing yards.
– Expect him to be at or near the top again next year with his top two weapons back and a more experienced OL in front of him.
– Holds offers from Virginia, North Carolina, Miami, Colorado, Kansas State, Duke, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Missouri, Minnesota, Kansas, Arizona State, Nebraska, and Florida State.
2. Anthony Rezac Anthony Rezac 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE | 2024 | Omaha Westside | 6’3″ 195 lbs
Stats: 168/250 (67%), 2,239 passing yards, 19 passing touchdowns (4 Ints), and 114 QBR.
– Starting QB for the Class A champion Omaha Westside Warriors.

– Anthony and the Warriors look like one of the early favorites to win it again.

– Looking forward to seeing more from Braylon this offseason and in his junior year.

Stats: 94/176 (53%), 1,849 passing yards, 25 touchdowns.
– Brady had a breakout season and helped lead the Crimson Pride to the playoffs.
– McGill is a great QB talent that is quickly rising and will have playmakers around him to help him lead the charge. Watch out for this team in 2023.
5. Jaden Williams | 2024 | Doniphan-Trumbull | 6’2″ 165 lbs
Stats: 143/245 (58%), 1,780 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns (7 Ints), and 88 QBR.
6. Jeter Worthley Jeter Worthley 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Lincoln East | 2025 State NE | 2025 | Lincoln East | 6’0″ 175 lbs
Stats: 119/194 (61%), 1,704 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns (5 Ints), and 103 QBR.
– Michigan Baseball commit.
– Excellent athlete with the ability to scramble and make plays on his legs.

– Could see a rise in production in 2023 as the Storm get settled at RB1.

– Interesting prospect with a lot of raw ability.
– 2023 will be year two as the starter for Wood River so we could see a jump in Waylon’s overall play.
10. Kyler Hellbusch Kyler Hellbusch 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB North Bend Central | 2024 State NE | 2024 | North Bend Central | 6’1″ 180 lbs
Stats: 104/182 (57%), 1,488 passing yards, 15 touchdowns (7 Ints), and 95 QBR.
– Kyler started to build momentum and gain confidence as the season wore on. Ended with some solid games.
– A weapon on the ground too with 700 receiving yards.
