However, numerous talented players have decided to wait and consider their options before choosing which school they want to attend. Here are five prospects we believe could be close to making one of the most important decisions of their young lives:
Elliot Paskett-Bell Elliot Paskett-Bell 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Volcano Vista | 2023 State NM , Volcano Vista: In his one season as Volcano Vista’s starting quarterback, Paskett-Bell emerged as an elite dual threat QB. He was offered by NMMI earlier this week and took a visit to the campus on Friday. Paskett-Bell has also been offered a PWO opportunity at New Mexico. Eastern New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands have offered as well. Presently, he’s the QB for the New Mexico Heat 7×7 team and enjoyed a stellar debut a couple of weeks ago at a tournament in San Antonio.
Taven Lozada Taven Lozada 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE St. Michael's | 2023 State NM , St. Michael’s: With a 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame, Lozada could play tight end or defensive end at the next level. The only thing we know for certain about Lozada’s recruitment is he is headed out of state. He told Prep Redzone New Mexico that the schools he is considering include Black Hills State University (Spearfish, SD), Central Methodist University (Missouri), University of Central Missouri and Ottawa University (Kansas). Another option? Post-graduate prep school.
Jahvon McChriston Jahvon McChriston 6'1" | 175 lbs | LB Bernalillo | 2023 State NM , Bernalillo: McChriston is an athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pounder that could play OLB or safety at the next level. This past season he had 109 tackles, 23 TFL, 12 sacks and 29 QB hurries. Remarkable numbers. In other words, he’s a playmaker. New Mexico Highlands offered last March and we’ve been told the Cowboys are the leader right now.
Javyn Morales Javyn Morales 5'10" | 155 lbs | RB Goddard | 2023 State NM , Goddard: Despite two ACL surgeries, Morales still possesses plenty of speed. Some schools have backed off due to his injuries, so the JUCO route could be Morales’ best option. He visited NMMI on Thursday and he could stay in Roswell for the next couple of years. In fact, Prep Redzone New Mexico has been told NMMI is the frontrunner to nab Morales. If he does well there, his speed could catapult him to a Div. 1 school in a couple of years.
Paul Cieremans Paul Cieremans 5'10" | 195 lbs | QB Los Lunas | 2023 State NM , Los Lunas: One of the most dynamic dual threat quarterbacks in the state, Cieremans has been offered by a JUCO program in Arizona. We’ve been told Cieremans could be announcing his future plans “very soon.” He led Los Lunas to the 2021 Class 5A championship before throwing for 1,260 yards and 16 TD while rushing for nearly 500 yards in the Tigers’ debut campaign in Class 6A.
