Martin is one of the most savvy route runners in the state of Texas. Nicknamed “ISO Joe”, leave him one on one in coverage and he will make you pay. Off of the line of scrimmage, he has an explosive get off, he has oily hips, his footwork is clean without false steps, which allows him to create separation early in his routes consistently. Martin’s ability to dip, turn, cut and get in and out of his breaks quickly, makes him a difficult cover. Josiah is shifty in space, he has the burst to accelerate past defensive backs to get open and he gets vertical in a hurry. When he sees the ball in his vicinity, he lays claim to it with his aggressiveness to make a play on it. Martin has strong mitts that engulf the football and he tracks the football like a center fielder in baseball. Josiah has the skill set to line up on the outside or inside and when it’s gametime just let him go get it. His elite body control, combined with his explosive jumping ability, gives him an advantage in coverage and this allows him to win on the 50/50 contested catches. He has been one the hottest recruits in Texas, adding to his list of double digit offers in February which includes, Minnesota, TCU, Purdue, Mississippi State, Cincinnati and Jackson State. Josiah has several visits set up heading into the spring and could possibly commit this summer.
Highlights
Pyle is of the most physical offensive line prospects in the Class of 2024 in Texas. At 6’5 290 pounds he passes the eye test, but his play puts the seal of approval that there is no doubt Pyle an elite player regardless of position. Pyle has the versatility to line up at either tackle spot on the offensive line, his initial burst at the snap is explosive, he attacks his opponent with violent intentions and when he clamps down on defenders he locks them down tighter than a storage unit after hours. His athleticism leaps off the screen during his film review. Pyle excels in the pull/lead run blocking game, showing clean footwork, his ability to open his hips freely and turn up field without a false step are what makes his game standout. He has the speed and agility to get to the second level with ease and he enjoys pummelling defensive backs in the open field. Pyle plays with a mean streak and aggressiveness that you can’t coach. In pass protection, he gets into his kick slide smoothly, he sets the table like a veteran, he engages defenders with violent hands and his extended arm length enables him to keep pass rushers out of the pocket. The recruiting love that Pyle has been receiving in February has been through the roof, with North Texas, Arizona State, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Kansas being just a small sample of the National buzz that he has created. Pyle has established himself as one the top offensive prospects in the Class of 2024.
Tatum is a workhorse in the Longview Lobo offense with the next level speed to score from any distance on the football field. He has a strong, lean, compact build with broad shoulders and he has a powerful lower torso. Taylor runs with excellent pad level between the tackles, he has a low center of gravity through the hole and he shakes off arm tackles with ease. Tatum has superb vision, which he uses to set up his blocks well, he runs with a purpose through contact and his ability to explode at the second level makes him a focal point in every teams scouting report who faces the Lobo offense. Tatum possesses the traits that college coaches from around the country covet and they are flocking to East Texas to offer him to be apart of their program. His stock has been trending upward on the recruiting trail, with offers from Colorado, Wisconsin, Duke and Michigan rolling in since late January through February. Tatum is a multi-sport athlete, excelling on the baseball diamond and he heats up the track for the Lobo track team.
