As one class graduates, the next senior class becomes the primary recruiting target from college programs. The class of 2024 has previewed elite talent among its ranks with players who have proven themselves as legitimate college prospects capable of playing at the highest level.
This article will briefly examine five defensive ends from the 2024 class who should be high on the recruiting boards, especially for the in-state programs.
Jordan has emerged as one of the best defensive ends in the class, which is saying a lot with the other names listed below. He is borderline impossible to block off the edge because of his explosive speed and overpowering strength. He has the power to force offensive linemen into the throwing lanes of the quarterback or shed the block so quickly that it looks like he’s tossing them aside to get into the backfield. Jordan’s overall talents have landed him a handful of offers, including UNC, Air Force, Army, Penn, and Columbia.
Jordan Ochoa
Jordan Ochoa
Ochoa is a rising prospect who is receiving significant attention from college programs. He is a legitimate monster off the edge with a twitchy first step and relentless motor. He has outstanding speed and excellent technique that appears sharper with every workout. His playing style is built upon his dominant power, aggressive mindset, and ability to come to the line with a plan of attack. Ochoa is a top prospect who has earned offers from Jackson State, Florida A&M, Toledo, and Lindenwood.
Cowgill is easily one of the more impressive defensive ends in the state. It is expected for a player of his size to have his strength and power, but his speed and overall athleticism make him an absolute spotlight stealer. His dominant performances on the field show his elite skills and intangibles, while his personable demeanor and respectful attitude off the field show his fantastic character. Cowgill is a grossly under-recruited player who is one offer away from the scholarship floodgates opening up, making him one to offer now.
Highlights
Coleman is a talented player with a solid build and explosive speed that helps him create chaos in the backfield. He fires off the ball with electrifying acceleration and pairs it with his outstanding technique to split the gaps between the offensive linemen while taking away their ability to get hands on him. Coleman is another player who deserves to be more known, giving him a legitimate sleeper status.
Highlights
Amaya is another budding recruit on his way to becoming a popular prospect. He plays with great vision and awareness, allowing him to track the ball well and get to the runner. He does a great job of initiating contact and finishing plays. His raw talent and size allow him to be looked at as a potential outside backer. Amaya is still floating just under the radar but has the makings of a true sleeper.
